California Grill?

A little bit depends on your style and what you want in Signature Dining. The food is very good, but the atmosphere is very loud.

Would this be your only "fancy" night out? Who would be going, just a couple or with kids too?

I would say that yes, it is worth it. We have 3 kids (not loud though ;) ). I don't recall the resaurant ever seeming loud. The food is wonderful and the service is among the best at WDW. Honestly, we have never had poor service at a signature at WDW. Getting a drink and walking out on the top floor before dinner is a great way to wait for a table.

We enjoy Ca Grill a great deal but pay OOP as I don't think it's worth the dollar value on the dining plan. Price out the entree at a 1TS restaurant, even a buffet which is not considered a great value on the dining plan. Then multiply that price by two and check the entree and dessert price at Ca Grill. You will see that you get more "bang for your buck" by eating at two 1TS restaurants rather than trading up and doing one 2TS restaurant.

Can you tell I'm an accountant, lol.

no, I really don't think it's worth it

...I know we're in the minority but we didn't think the food at CG is worth 2 table service credits. Also don't think it's worth paying OOP either. We've had similar or better steaks at the one table service restaurants like Le Cellier, The Grand Floridian Cafe and Kona Cafe.

We also don't care for spending 2+ hours for "fine" dining. We're not wine-sippers, so the long waits between ordering & receiving the beverage, then hurry up & wait for the entree, then another 30 minutes to wait for the dessert was just a waste of time to us. The service was attentive, and polite, but there was absolutely no point in the time involved, IMHO.

You're really paying all that extra $$$ for the view -- and you may or may not actually have a view when you're there. When we were there, they actually had the blinds down! So we had a window table, but couldn't see a thing. When we asked why they were covering the view, the reply was "we'll raise the blinds when the sun goes down." What!!! Apparently enough people complained that they eventually raised the blinds about 10"...so if you scrunched down in your chair you had a view. Hardly worth paying so much for the view, though.

I agree with PP who said yes...but....
We go every year, but pay OOP. THen use the TS credit on something else. My girls always share an adult meal here so it does not make sense to use the credits for them.
