We ate for the first time at CG in December and it was wonderful. They had the best sushi I have ever tasted.

We are staying at the CR in June, and was wondering, is there a way to go up to eat sushi without getting an ADR?

We had so many ADR's our last trip we are a little reservation weary. We have already planned to to T-Rex, 1900 Park Fare, Hoop Dee Doo, and Cirque de Soleil on the trip. I just don't want to add more. I was trying to avoid being so locked in this trip.

I think they might have a bar you can eat at, but I'm not sure if you can go right up without an ADR.

Another possibility for sushi w/out an ADR is the new Sushi Bar at Kona. It's only offered during the dinner hours and it's where the coffee bar in the morning is.

I did see folks sitting at smaller glass tables, near the bar, maybe those are available without ADR.

I read that if they have room at the bar they can let you up there without an ADR, so it depends on how busy they are at the time. So my suggestion is going right at 5:00 PM when they open.

Last month we rode up in the elevator with a couple who tried getting an ADR about an hour earlier. Needless to say they had no luck, but went to the bar to eat. We were at the bar with them for a while and I did notice they specifically asked if they could get food there at the bar. They did get served.

If opening time does not work, you might also want to try late, after fireworks. The place has a tendency to cycle quickly once the show is over.
