California Grill - Which items to choose?

I'm taking my boyfriend to Disney for his first time ever (and my first time in 10 years) in early May this year, and we've planned to eat at the California Grill for dinner just prior to Wishes one evening. I've looked at the menus online and seen reviews and pictures, and while everything looks tasty, I'm not sure how many things to order! The online menu is divided into flatbreads, sushi, first course, main course, and dessert, but I can imagine getting one of every "course" would be way too much food.

So I ask you at the Dis, how many items do you typically order or, alternatively, how many items is enough food (or too much!). :confused3

Also, we are not on the dining plan and will be paying OOP, so we're not limited in that manner either.

Thanks!

We do not do DDP and have no limits either when we eat there. I generally get a salad for an appetizer and then sushi for my entree. If you like sushi, their sushi is very good and the portions are generous. If my husband (who does not like sushi) and I go with others, sometimes I'll split some sushi with another person for an appetizer and then we each get an entree. Honestly, I have never found anything here on the menu that is as good as the sushi is.
My husband always gets a salad and an entree. If we still feel like we need something we more, we'll get dessert and coffee.

I know that there is no way I could eat an appetizer and an entree by myself, whether it is their sushi, flatbreads or any other appetizer except maybe a salad.

:lovestruc We love the California Grill! If it is just DH and I we typically get 2 entrees and 1 or 2 desserts, but we are dessert people. When we have eaten there with a group we have ordered a flatbread in addition to the entrees and dessert. I have heard their sushi is great but I have not become that adventerous with my food yet. :lmao:

:hippie:

Cali Grill is our all time favorite and eat there a few times each trip.
A salad and flatbread is a must for us each visit. Usually we end up taking a few pieces back to the room so we have room for an entree (which we split) and a dessert (split again) if we aren't too full.
Sometimes we have gone and made a meal out of just the flatbreads and salad. This past fall they had such a wonderful selection with heirloom tomatoes and micro basil based dishes we returned each day and ate in the bar days we didn't have reservations.
I love the constantly changing menu featuring the freshest food the chefs can get their hands on. You'll love it!

We generally split a salad and a flatbread, then each get our own entrees and follow that with a dessert. We leave stuffed, but the food is sooooo good, it's worth it.
