We're "mixing it up" this year, so instead of Chef Mickeys, we'll be having our first day's dinner at California Grill! I haven't been up there in over 20 years, so I was hoping to get some detailed information right here on the DIS.....

  1. Do you check-in on the 4th floor?
  2. Do you wait for a table on the 4th floor, or upstairs?
  3. What time do they start serving dinner?
  4. What entree do you recommend?
  5. What dessert do you recommend?

Thanks in advance for your replies and if anyone has any pictures, I'd love to see them! :woohoo:

I'm pretty sure you check in on 2nd floor. They will send you up once you check in but there is normally no place to sit as Ca Grill is generally one of those places that gets behind on ADR's and their lounge is very tiny. Last two times here we have stood against the wall while waiting for our table.

Good to eat there? Sushi. It's why we go. I usually get a green salad as a starter and then order sushi for my entree. On first two visits, I had steak and duck and was underwhelmed both of those times so now I stick to sushi and have never been disappointed.

For dessert, I really liked the strawberry trio I had on most recent visit. I try a different one each time and I've liked this strawberry best of any.

The ravioli is a great starter and we LOVE the glazed steak, dessert has to be the warm valrhona chocolate cake with a molten chocolate centre.

Oh my you are making me hungry, we have ADR's there for our last night I got a 6;05 ADR wishes is a 6 so hopefully we will be able to see it from there.

I had the filet and it was fabulous! My friends also had good things - one loved the cheese plate appetizer, another the mozzarella/tomato salad.

You wait for your table on the floor the restaurant is located.

I LOVED the goat cheese ravioli as an appetizer, the scallops entree, and the banana fosters for dessert.

Get a window seat!!

Ahh I can't wait to eat there...we have a ressie for our next trip at 9 PM and wishes go off at 9 will we be able to go onto the balcony to watch the fireworks while we wait for our table?

Absolutely! If you're not already seated, by all means, go view the show on the balcony. You'll love it!

The entree I'd recommend is the Pork with goats cheese polenta. I think this is one of their signature dishes as it's always on the menu, and the polenta is absolutely gorgeous.

For dessert I loved the banana butterscotch buzz pictured below, it was just great with contrasting flavours and textures of the icecream, bananas and crisp pastry.

They start serving dinner at 5:30pm. Oh and here's a link where I got the information from. It lists the hours for all of the restaurants.

Thanks for the link!
I was happy to hear they start dinner at 5:30pm because that's the time of our ADR. I'm hoping that if we check in early enough, we'll have a real good chance of getting a window seat?!:woohoo:

Thanks for the recommendations - I'm really looking forward to the Sushi.
The strawberry trio sounds amazing too!

Our ressie is for 5:30pm and since it's a MVMCP night, Wishes will be going off at 6pm. Hopefully we'll just get seated in time for the show. My 3 boys are gonna flip!!! :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:
