The last two times we have eaten there it was SOOOOO noisy that I felt like I was yelling at the people I was having dinner with.

I will admit, the food was very good and of course the view to die for...but somehow its always very loud when I'm there! I want to say its romantic but it just doesn't give me that feeling. Does anyone else here feel the same? Is there an area separate for dining that is a tad bit more quiet?
I want to go back, I just dread the loudness.

All help appreciated,
Esmerelda

I do feel the same. I have never felt CG was romantic. I love the food and wine list there, but rarely go due to the noise issue.

I love the food, but have to really tune out the noise. We always seem to be seated next to a table with over-extended kiddos whose parents are too tired to care anymore but are determined to stick it out for the fireworks view.

I really wish it were open for lunch so maybe we could enjoy the food without the tuckered out families who are there for the Fireworks view.

Next time we go, we'll book the latest possible ressie & hope that the fireworks crowd has left.

Doesn't help that the kitchen is open so in addition to the noise from guests you get noise from the kitchen as orders are called out. But like you said, the view is to die for, so worth the noise, IMO.

We go early and are almost always gone before Wishes. THat helps with the noise factor.

We also request the wine room. It is much smaller than the main dining room and that helps with the noise as well.

Oh, and it was open for lunch when it first opened. We loved that!

I've never eaten at CG, but I also dislike a loud restaurant. I felt Boma was TOO loud.

Back here at home, I can't stand any place with the high ceilings and open kitchens (like Bertucii's). I much prefer a smaller cozy feel.

We lucked out the first night we ate there last week. We were waiting for a table and the batteries in my camera ran out (of course), so I had to run down to the 4th floor to get some new ones. When I came back up, I was looking for DBF amongst the crowds over to the left of the lounge and couldn't find him. Then the greeter saw me and brought me over to a table on the right side of the lounge directly in front of the window (DBF was already grinning ear-to-ear because of the view). We couldn't have hand-picked a better table. And we weren't bothered by noise at all. We were slightly bothered by the couple at the next table who allowed their 7 year old son to drink a glass of wine and ignored the fact that their daughter pushed one of the chairs at our table out of the way so that she could stand at our table and watch the castle change colors, but that's for another thread!

we were not bothered by noise when we ate there in Nov. Our ressie was for 6pm which was the same time as Wishes (it was a MVMCP nite) They had us go out & watch wishes before they seated us. We were a party of 10 at a table in the middle of the room all the way at the far end of the restaurant. Was that the wine room? Having seen Wishes we didn't mind not having a view at our table.

Totally agree about the noise. It ruined what was an otherwise good meal. Next time we'll just sit at the bar, have some appetizers and a glass of wine. Our attitude will be completely different about the noise in that situation. As a PP said, not the place for a romantic dinner.

Ask for the "wine room". We ate there on Friday and commented on how loud it was outside in the main dining room. The view is beautiful.

I'd recommend the wine room as well. :thumbsup2 My Ils ate at CG the week before last & were seated in the wine room. They kept commenting afterwards how noisy the main dining room was & how glad they'd not been seated in it.

I have a 12 & 15 y/o, DH and I do not drink. Can we still ask to be seated in the wine room? We're trying for early ADR's, hopefully as soon as the restaurant opens. I know the kids would probably prefer to be seated at the window, but I suffer from vertigo and when I'm in a noisy room it gets uncomfortable.

You can't see the fireworks or Magic Kingdom from the wine room. But, it is quieter.

It is noisy. DH and I ate there for the first time a couple of weeks ago. Initally I was shocked and then happy because I realized next time we could bring the kids and no one would hear them over the din! ;)
