Hi-- We're planning our first ever Holiday-time trip to the World, and have some planning questions.

I recently read a wonderful review on WDWIG from a couple who went to California Grill on Thanksgiving, and timed it so they could enjoy MK fireworks display while eating dessert.

Does anybody know what time we would need to make ressies to do the same thing?

You would need to check park hours for the MK on the day you would like to go. Make sure they have fireworks that night and make a PS for around the same time. A dinner at Calif Grill usually takes about 1 1/2 to 2 hours. It is a wonderful display from there.

Hi,
We just returned from a DVC trip and had dinner at the CG on our last night. We had reservations a 7:40pm with the fireworks scheduled for 8:15pm.
You guessed they servered our dinner just as the show started so I would suggest at least 1 to 1/12 hrs prior to the scheduled time for the fireworks.
Our dinners were woderful despite the interuption.

Do you have to request a table near the windows, or are most of the seating in a great view?

Most of the seats are good for view as they turn down the lights and pipe in the music and you can walk outside if you like which most did.

Unless you have an actual window table, you will probably get a better view if you walk outside. If you do have a table, you may wish you had walked outside--often other diners will just get up and walk over to the window area, forming a small mob around those who are actually sitting down and trying to eat. Dosen't happen all the time, but seen it ourselves at least 3 times.
As for timing--if you are seated at (or near) your PS time it may be fairly easy to plan. But sometimes you must wait to be seated even with PS--we've waited as long as 1 hour (on a Saturday nite) to be seated WITH ps.
It would be nice to have things work out exactly (with a window table and the times) but if not, I wouldn't worry a whole lot. If you are at the CG at any time during the fireworks, just walk out on the observation deck. It's what we always do, and the view is grand!!

They can only take special seating requests at the podium at check-in, requests can not be made when making a priority seating.
