Hello. Can anyone tell me if you can see the Once Upon a Time castle projection show from the California Grill fireworks viewing area? I am not sure if I would be giving up the projection show to eat there. TIA

I saw it from my room at The Contemporary in March. I was on the 11th floor on the end of the building closest to the park. I say - go to the park if you want to enjoy the show. One thing that the loss of Wishes has done is killed the fireworks viewing from The Ca Grill and from the Tower Theme Park view rooms. We are staying in the Garden wing in May because of this.

Respectfully, pretty premature to say this. No one knows what the new show will be like. You very well may be right, but the new show may still be great from the same out-of-park places like it is now. We'll just have to wait and see.

OP - you can kind of see that there's "something" on the castle for OUAT from CR but you wouldn't really want to do this. No music, can't really see what's being projected on the castle. Definitely need the in park experience for that show.

Would you be able to see your neighbor's wide-screen TV from a mile away?

You can tell something is going on at the Castle, but you could never see the projections.

Even the view from CA Grill is not ideal for the fireworks - since the fireworks are best viewed from down Main Street. Therefore, the 'best' hotel viewing spot is Grand Floridian.

We did a self-guided fireworks 'tour' a few years ago:
1.) From out MK view room at Bay Lake/Contemporary,
2.) From Polynesian beach (before the DVC units were built),
3.) From Grand Floridian,
4.) Standing in MK.

Nothing compares to standing in Magic Kingdom.

The view from the Contemporary is convenient, but not a great view - of the fireworks.

The view from the Contemporary is convenient, but you really cannot see much of anything of the projections on the Castle.

So Melanie did you see this show as a preview in March? We have dinner at California Grill just days after the new show starts. We planned our time perfectly for Wishes and honestly it's not our first choice for dinner without The view. Would love any info to help us decide ASAP.

Yes. They ran previews in March. It was disappointing. You could tell that someone decided that projections cost way less than fireworks. I have a feeling fireworks are going to become a thing with paid events.

Except that they ran previews in March and I saw it. So I can say what it looks like from The Contemporary.

Disappointing for sure. Doubt we will book California grill this trip. I so enjoyed the whole experience of drinks, dinner, desert, drinks & fireworks.

Thanks. That's the information I was looking for. We do have another evening in the MK to see the show but just got to decide whether or not we want to go CG or see if we can get something else last minute.
