California Grill at 920, Holiday Wishes at 930?

Hi everyone!! I've been lurking here for a while now and thought it was time I introduced myself! My boyfriend and I just booked for December 10-18 for free dining! We really wanted to watch the fireworks from California Grill on our first night, but Holiday wishes is at 930 and the only reservation available is at 920. Do you think that if we show up around 9 we would be able to watch the fireworks from the observation deck even if we haven't been seated yet?

I was able to get a California Grill reservation for our last night at a better time (740 for 930 fireworks), but we would really like to do this on the first night if possible! Thoughts?

Unfortunately, everyone else has the same idea.

I would stick with the 9:20 reservation, because you have a better chance of seeing them while waiting for your table; they don't always seat right away.

If you have a reservation they will let you up a bit early. Watch the fireworks and then have dinner.

We ate there xmas night 2 years ago and had 9:20pm adr and checked in around 8:45 (on 2nd floor0 and they brought us up and told us our table was ready, but we could go out to the observation area or watch from the table(they pipe in the music). Half of us stayed at the table and the other half went out to watch. CM was great and told us not to hurry, take our time..the meal is very leisurely..FYI.

Thanks so much for the replies! We decided to go for it and make the 920 reservation on our first night. We will make sure to get to the Contemporary to check in by about 845 so atleast we will be able to get up to the observation deck with plenty of time even if we haven't been seated yet.
