So, we were able to make reservations for Cali Grill during wishes! :cool1: But now I'm looking more closely at the menu and I'm worried my three boys 10, 12 and 13 (all on adult dining plan) won't be able to find anything they like. They are all pretty picky eaters and not adventurous at all when it comes to new foods. Was anyone in a similar situation able to find something their child liked? I really don't want to order off the kids menu as they have big appetities and I'm paying for adult dining. Will they alter any of the menu items to make them more kid friendly??? TIA!

I frequently ask for my kids (DS13 and DD10) meals to be simplified at California Grill. I've never had a problem. I think both kids got plain filets with mashed potatoes last time. I've asked for the same at other WDW restaurants as well. They are always very accomodating.

You can ask them to make things without the sauces or creams and give plain veggies or potatoes without any mushroom toppings or things of that nature. Tell them you want the chicken PLAIN. I am sure they can come up with something for tweens.

And don't forget the filling, large flatbreads which are just glorified, delicious, pizzas.

As OP's have said, you wont have any issues asking them to hold the sauces. I ordered the filet and asked them to put the sauce on the side...they happily complied.

If your son's wanted to only have the flat bread as their meal, you could pay for those out of pocket (since theyre so cheap), that way you save yourselves a ton of credits. My DS11 and I went to cali grill last month, since he wanted the kids steak meal, I paid for his dinner out of pocket and used the credits for mine. That way we had 2 DP credits to use elsewhere! The server will put the cash only items on a separate bill.

Just a thought.

Thanks for sharing this. I can see us doing this in a few weeks as my kids are 8 and 10 and I am sure they would appreciate just a plain steak meal over a signature meal.
