I made ADR's at Cali. Grill on the night of a MNSSHP. We're NOT going to the party, but thought it'd be neat overlook the MK while the party was going on. I also have read there are special Halloween fireworks during MNSSHP. We have 7:00 ADR's. . . will we see anything neat? Or would you recommend going on another night? Maybe to watch Wishes?

Also, I will have a 3 yo. in my party. Is this a kid friendly restaurant? His normal bed time is 9:00-so I'm not worried about him being overly tired and crabby, besides we're planning on taking an extra long nap time in our room earlier in the afternoon.

I haven't been to California Grill during one of the special ticket events (like MNSSHP or MVMCP), but have been there for several regular fireworks shows. I would assume CG doesn't do anything different.

I've watched them from inside at the table, and from out on the observation deck. I actually enjoyed them better from outside.

When we viewed them from the deck, we timed our meal to finish slightly before the show started, settled up the check, then headed out to watch. (You can also come back to the observation deck for the show if you've eaten dinner earlier. Just save your receipt.) There are speakers out on the deck, and they pipe in the music from the show.

Inside, they dim the lights and also play the music. (I think I remember the music, this was several years ago) When we were inside, my problem was that it was a very humid day, and there was a lot of condensation on the windows. We also weren't at a table right up against the glass, so the view wasn't quite as good.

When you're in the park, the fireworks look like they're being fired right over the top of the castle. From the California Grill, however, you can see that they're way behind, and to the right of the castle. For me, this took away a good deal of the magic. The view from inside the park can't be beat. Even so, it's still a great show from the CG.

I've never been there with kids in our party, but have seen many of them up there. One thing to keep in mind is that CG has a dress code.

We dined at Cali Grill last year while MNSSHP was going on. We went out on the viewing deck and watched Hallowishes. They piped in the music and it was fantastic.

There have been kids at CG every time I've dined there. You know your child....can he/she sit through a 2 hour meal? They do have a kids menu and the place can be a little noisy.

The party fireworks were 9:30p last year. I don't think you can stretch out your meal that long especially with a little one.

We tried to see Wishes from there with a 6 year old and we almost made it but we had no more food on our table and my 6 year old was so cranky we had to leave. Our ADR was 8:20p and the fireworks were at 10:00p and we were there probably till about 9:45p (so about 1 hour and 15 minutes) and could make it to the fireworks.

Good luck!
