OK can you tell that we are excited about our 11 night trip July 2005 we are already thinking about where we want to eat!! I have read so much about the California Grill but when we are going we will have our two sons with us one who will be almost 9 and the other 3. Is the CG the type of place for just adults or adults preferred or is it kid friendly?? Can anyone tell me about their experience at CG if they ate there with a younger child. Thanks in advance:)

IT'S GREAT FOR KIDS. DINING @ CALIFORNIA GRILL WHILE WATCHING THE FIREWORKS IS ONE OF MY (NOW 10YR OLD) NEPHEWS FAVORITE "MUST DO" THINGS TO DO WHILE AT WDW.

THIS HAS BECOME OUR 'FIRST NIGHT' TRADITION.

THEY HAVE A KIDS MENU & THE VIEW IS MAGNIFICENT!

oh yeah the food is wonderful too.

:earsboy:

We've eaten there many times and there are always LOTS of kids and they seem to be enjoying it. It's very kid friendly - not stuffy or formal at all. We're taking our 18 month old in October. We're getting the earliest of the night and are prepared to leave it he gets to loud, but I think he'll be fine. The view is so amazing and the food is great! Definately do it!!

Our 10 year old DD loves it! We've been taking her there since she was 8. She loves everything about it! Our first experience there 2 summers ago, she and DH even got a tour of the kitchen, behind the scenes. The have a great kids menu there too. My DD loves the kids fish and chips.:p

I was there last Sept with a collegue from work and her 5 year old. The waiter was great bringing him paper and crayons, specifically asking him questions and pointing out stuff out the windows.

The best was dessert - rice krispie sushi with swedish fish and rolled in fruit roll-ups. Soooooo creative!

We were there last month with our DD3 & DS7. We go every trip so they have been a few times. We have never had a problem. Is is nice and expensive but not at all formal. The waiters always give the kids goldfish and bread as soon as we order drinks to keep them happy. Also, there is paper over the tablecloth so the waiters give them crayons to color on it. They have a great time. Infact, California Grill and Tepanyaki in Epcot are my sons's favorite places in all of WDW. He loves sushi & fine dining.:rolleyes1 I wonder wher he got that from?:confused3

Enjoy your trip!

I have no problem with kids at CG, just remember dinner takes 1 1/2-2 hrs. there. If your kids can sit that long go and have a great time!

On Wed. we were there for a 7:30 PS a bit early. We noticed a ton of kids! They were all VERY well-behaved. My post is about a kid dessert - Rice Krispie sushi! It was so cute! Little RK bars with gummy fish on top. We dined next to a mother and 3 children. They were all dressed nice and were perfect! We were at a window table and a few sweet, quiet girls just came up to look out the window. One point I am trying to make is that we do not have kids and were hoping to have a nice dinner, and the large # of kids there were an asset rather than a distraction. Obviously CG welcomes children. Also it's a very LOUD restaurant so all noise blends together.
