California Grill & Acrophobia

I was just going to point this out. ;) I do consider it irrational, because my rational mind will tell me I'm not in danger, but I still can't control my fear. It controls me, & I hate it.

Funny that you mentioned snakes. That's my other fear. It's as bad as heights, even plastic snakes & snakes on TV creap me out. I have a good reason for that one though. My older sister took me to see the movie "Rattlers", when I was 8. What was she thinking? :confused3 I have no idea why I'm so afraid of heights though. Noone else in my family is.

I know I couldn't handle the observation deck. I can sometimes tolerate heights, after I get used to it, if I'm looking at the view from a distance. My body freezes & won't allow me to go near the window.

I've have so been there. We had nose bleed seats for an NCAA tourney once. I tolerated it & even enjoyed it. It was the Tarheels afterall. ;) Needless to say, we only went to their games. There's no way I would have gone up there for any other teams. I have turned down free tickets to the Buccaneers, because they were high up.

I explained why I was considering going there earlier. I've copied the quote above.

I don't usually get really nervous about heights, other than flying, until the fact. I'm always convinced I can do it this time. (I have a "won't give up" mentality.):rolleyes1 I'm just trying to be proactive this time. My poor hubby has had to carry me off steps or to the top to ride a water ride down quickly, whichever is closer. When I get to a certain height, my legs go weak, shake, & lock up. They literally won't move. :sad2: I've passed out on high platforms before, at least what I consider high, most people probably wouldn't.

That's a good idea. If we go with CG, I'll probably send my DH up instead. He can usually judge what I can tolerate.

No way!!! :scared1: There's no way I could have walked all the way to the window. I've stayed on higher floors in hotels at the beach (not as high as 32), & couldn't even get close to the sliding door leading to the balcony. I can't look over a balcony on the 4th floor much less that high.

Where would you recommend in the MK area?
The places that I have enjoyed near MK are 'Ohana, Artist Point and Kona. Artist Point would be the closest type of restaurant as CG. I saw that you mentioned Narcossee's and I really like the food there, but the service left a lot to be desired.

My mother has a severe fear of heights. She's ok if she's enclosed. CG has windows all around, and she was fine with that. You can see the fireworks from inside.;) She never went outside, but the rest of us did.

You need to evaluate it based on your own fear. Can you go up an elevator? Can you be high up but enclosed? Are you ok away from the windows? They have tables that aren't next to the windows. And how badly do you WANT to eat there?

Oh, I wouldn't consider going out on the deck. :scared1: It really makes me nervous just imagining it from the safety of my couch. If we weren't seated near a window, I may be okay. I was just wondering how others in my situation had felt about it. Sometimes, just the thought of being that high scares me. :guilty:
At least you're smart to think of that in advance. I was fine in the resturant, ran out on the deck when it was time for "Wishes", took one look, then said to myself, "I must be NUTS! I'm afraid of heights" and spent the rest of the time with a death grip on the nearest railing (I was frozen with fear and didn't dare move to leave). Stupid me, it had never crossed my mind before. However, I was just fine in the resturant.

However, I will climb on alomost any ride, if I don't have to climb to get to it, and I fly without problems.

That's funny! :p I ride coasters too. Naturally, I prefer the coasters that launch from ground level to avoid the never ending climb to the top of the drop. When there's a climb, I close my eyes & chant, "It's almost over, it's almost over.....", until we finally start dropping. However, I will not ride things like ferris wheels, chair lifts, etc. I've tried them, but the unadulterated terror isn't worth it. Flying scares me too though.

Thanks for the suggestions. :) We've tried Ohana & didn't care for it. We do love Artist Point though. Right now, we have Kona, which we've never tried, booked for that evening. I'm still undecided on that one though. We need an ADR that will work well with Spectro & Wishes.

I can ride elevators, as long as they don't have glass doors. Being in an enclosed area is definitely easier. My biggest problem with high, yet enclosed, areas is my legs get weak & I feel like the floor is moving. I know high rises are built to move a bit to accommodate high winds, but I'm usually the only one who feels like it's moving. :o Everybody thinks I'm crazy & jokes that I need to lay off the hard stuff. ;)

I'm sorry you had to find that out the hard way. I know exactly how you felt & it's not fun. :(

We ate at Artist Point last night and we were blown away! It was fabulous, the service was great, the restaurant was quiet and the food was gorgeous. The smoky portobello soup was out of this world, better than cheese soup from Le Cellier and I LOVE that. My beef tenderloin was beautifully cooked and flavoursome, DH had the buffalo and throughly enjoyed it.

If you decide you can't manage CG I would definitely recommend Artist Point. We ate at Narcoosee's the night before and Artist Point beats it hand down IMO.
