called Dining and WDW PLAN and wanted suggestions for my 54th birthday meal with 8 other relatives. I asked if there were special meal opportunities in March 2008.

No one could suggest anything. They sat like lumps on the other end of the phone. No questions about where we had eaten, what I liked, etc. They suggested the polynesian show (no) or the whoodydedoo thing (no again). The Dining operator suggested I call the 1-407-WDW-PLAN.

Emerson did not have a clue about the Grand Gatherings, etc. He did know about the Illuminations Dinner and Dessert at the Odyssey. 1 seating at 7pm, then depending on the wind you were taken to a special location to see the Illuminations show. $60 pp + 18% gratuity and EPCOT park ticket. He had no menu available, no examples of past menues. He did not quote a child's price. When I told him I needed info to "sell" the idea to 8 other people he apologized....:confused3

I asked him what a family could do for a special event, could we cruise?....he said he did not know, WDW PLAN does not do that. He did not offer another phone # either.....:headache:

After my constant questions about an idea for a special meal - He suggested the California Grill with a 9:20pm ressie, that the fireworks were at 10pm. I had recorded the hours at MK on my anal retentive OUTLOOK Calendar....I knew the park closed before 10 that day, he did not! I asked him if the earlier ressies were gone due to an earlier park closing...he was not sure-he had to check......:rolleyes1

Then he found a 7:40 ressie and needed a CC to keep the seats....

I am having second thoughts about the entire night and I am ready to buy a case of wine and a box of steaks and eat at OKW.....

When I have to pull ideas out of their heads I feel I am working a little too hard. I guess food and drink for 9 people is not worth their time.

Can't figure it out- was I calling from a poor area code? Do the brilliant employees work 8-5 weekdays?

I do not mean to be sarcastic-It's been a rough couple of years (family illness, job loss, etc.). I'd like to enjoy myself with my family in the "happiest place on earth".

Any ideas or suggestions??????

I thought it was totally worth it. The food was amazing and the view can't be beat. We finished dinner about 10 minutes before the fireworks started so we went to the balcony and watched. Then went back in for dessert. It was an amazing dinner experiance.

I can't think of a place I'd rather be! It is so very worth the 2 credits, top-notch atmosphere, incredible food and a view to die for. It is now our must do first night dinner!!:thumbsup2

If any place is worth 2 credits, it is CG.

I totally agree with the other posters, yes it's well worth 2 credits. CG is our very favorite restaurant at DW. The food is wonderful and the view, the best!!! :)
