Planning a trip to the west coast for mid-November 2026, and have convince DH to squeeze in a few days at Disneyland *if* we can get a points stay.

I’ve looked at the various availability charts online, and everything looks pretty full by 7 months, so I realize I’m likely going to be stalking and walking.

What resort, room and view is likely to be my most successful? While we prefer 1 bedroom villas, willing to go studio if availability will be better. No preference on resort, we’ve stayed in regular hotel rooms at both and like things about both, so availability is more important I think. Unless there’s something I don’t know about a certain category that should make me want to avoid it?

Thoughts? Advice?

Preferred view (deluxe, not duo) studio at Villas at Disneyland Hotel might be your best bet; there are a fair number of these studios! Don’t try for garden studios; there are only a few of those. You will have to pay the transient occupancy tax too, so plan ahead for that. Just note that it is a restricted resort, so you can only use non-restricted points there. Grand Californian is not restricted and doesn’t require the guest to pay the transient occupancy tax as it is built into their dues. But Grand Californian availability is also lower.

This website might be helpful to see usually availability: dvchelp.com

I used to live in California. Never had a problem getting reservation at The Californian. We always got a deluxe studio. Even holidays: Easter, Christmas, Halloween, etc. was able to get in at 7 month window. Now, that was 9 plus years ago, I don't know if things have changed.

Look at accessible categories at VDH - there are tons of accessible categories and they're often available at 7 months. Again you will have to pay the TOT. I have not had success getting VGC at 7 months but obviously check it too; better location and no TOT.
