I'm planning our December trip and was just looking at the park hours for November 1st (on this site) and it says:

California Adventure Events: Drawn to Magic 11:00, 12:00, 1:00, 2:30, 3:30, 4:30

It also mentions that Golden Dreams will be replaced with The Little Mermaid.

Please can someone tell me what these 2 things are? I can't seem to find any description of them.

Also, what is the Jedi Training Academy at Disneyland? Thanks for any help!

Drawn to the Magic is a small stage show that they do in the Hollywood Backlot area. There are 3 animators who sing and draw 3 characters. The characters also perform and there is audience participation involved. It's a cute show, and normally includes Sorcerer Mickey, Woody and a Princess (Snow White or Cindy, usually). After the show is over the characters are available for a short meet and greet.

Golden Dreams is no longer. The Little Mermaid dark ride won't be done for at least another year or two.

Jedi Training Academy is an awesome stage show where kids are picked to learn how to use a light saber and get the opportunity to fight Darth Vader or Darth Maul. You can watch shows on youtube if you type it into the search.

I loved Golden Dreams...sigh...I guess it was a little tame for older kids.

See the Jedi Training Academy, even if it seems like something you really wouldn't like. It's very well performed, really cool if you are a Star Wars fan, but even if you're not it's very impressive when Darth Vader makes his appearance. The kids are usually good for a laugh, and the head Jedi is great for slipping in funny sacastic remarks :rotfl:. The first 1/2 of the show can be a little slow, but gets great when the kids get to fight.

This is my favorite Jedi Training Academy YouTube video:

I don't really like the Drawn to Magic show, the best part is when the characters come out. There's videos online of the full show, here's a small clip:

It's been a long time since I've seen the show on stage as in the video, lately it's been taking place in front of the Animation Building.

And yes, Golden Dreams, wasn't terrible but it was one of those slow shows you just knew would get axed eventually. Basically it was a fictional "Making of" story of California, showed several small stories of people who's lives were changed for the better by the spirit of California a.k.a. Califia - a.k.a. Whoopi Goldberg. Here's a terrible YouTube video:

So have you seen the Aladdin Musical Spectacular ? That's definitely a must see! The dancing and singing in the video starts at about the 3:15 min. mark. It's better in person:

Thanks very much for all the info, everybody. Much appreciated! :thumbsup2

Another quick question, is there any extra entertainment/shows etc at California Adventure on the weekends, as opposed to weekdays? Our trip is December 10 - 16 and I'm trying to plan out our days. We have a 5-day Park Hopper and I'm wondering whether we should do 2 weekdays at CA or 1 weekday plus 1 Sat or Sun, so as not to miss anything extra that might be happening on the busier weekends?

Just hop from park to park, don't do 1 park each day. When DL gets too crowded walk over the DCA. You won't regret it.
