California Adventure Evacuation

So I was at Disneyland California Adventure yesterday and my family were watching the Aladin show. I noticed something odd when they didnt have the flying carpets, it was just singing while the characters on stage moved around the landmarks (in the past when I saw it, they would fly around on the carpet, and come down from the rafters), then after that scene passed Genie and aladin came out and started to talk, all of the sudden the sound went out, the cast members paused and then ran off stage as the lights flashed and a voice came over saying "Attention. Attention. This is an emergancy, please evacuate the building through marked exits" and repeated that.

After we got out they pushed us all into the streets and everyone went about their business, they didn't evacuate the park, just that building.

Anyone know what happened?

I don't know what happened but I can tell you that when we saw Aladdin on Father's Day they were not doing the flying carpet sequence then either. Major bummer, I had told my little nieces all about that and they were disappointed not to see it!

Hopefully, it was just a false alarm. We also saw Aladdin with a first-timer two weeks ago and were a little disappointed about the magic carpet scene. We had decided to sit in the mezzanine because I suggested it might be cool for that scene, and then felt a little silly when the scene didn't materialize. So I don't think that was related to your evacuation.

The first time we tried to see Aladdin, the show was also stopped midway through for technical difficulties. Hope you got another chance; it's such a great show.

I would have asked a CM what happened.

I love that show.

And would you have expected to get a straight answer? ;)

Honestly Disney is expert at moving people and for the most part I would have faith in them to get people out when necessary.
I would NOT expect an honest answer from a CM explaining why or admitting any kind of problem though.
Not good "show"

Really? I don't think I had problems with CM's lately. They all have been very cordial and straight forward with all my questions. I guess I just asked the right people. * wink* :thumbsup2

We weren't able to ask anyone, they pushed everyone to the streets before we could talk to any CM. I have a friend who works at disneyland, but she hasnt found out yet either.

I've seen the show before, and I love it, I was just curious and worried about what was going on. I ruled out fire, bomb/terrorist scare and earthquake because the entire park wasnt evacuated.

So the only thing I could think of was either heatstroke, seizer, heart attack, etc of a CM or guest, but you would think if that were true, they would just bring in an ambulance/EMT.

It WAS really hot outside, but inside was nice and cool. The temperature was like 90-100 that day, and with everyone around us it felt like 105 -_-' We left early that day.

I don't think Catsmom was saying the cm's aren't cordial but rather they usually give a very vague answer when you ask why a ride or attraction isn't running. They are taught to not give anyone an answer that might come back to haunt them or indicate there is a serious problem that might cause people to panic or God forbid leave and take their wallets with them! For example they won't ever tell you a ride that is down should be up in such a such a time frame because something unforeseen may come up and make them have to eat crow or make yet another explanation. So even if the OP had asked, chances are he/she would not have gotten a straight answer but rather just some vague but very cheerful response. They would never tell a guest "oh one of our cast members just collapsed or we have a bomb threat".

That's odd.

However, how long is the show, normally?

45 minutes, we were about 30-40 minutes in so we barely missed the ending. But still, a little annoying.

I've been told by cast members when Star Tours was down that they had a power outtage and things would be up shortly.

We saw Aladdin last Wednesday and Thursday, and the magic carpet scene wasn't working for either time. It is a terrific show, though.

I agree. Depending on the situation, it actually can be good customer service to make someone feel better about something, without actually giving out any information at all. I think most CMs have this down pat!

We were there and saw the 6 PM show without any problems or mention of problems. There was no flying carpets though..... : (
Really missed that part BUT love the entire show.
