Yesterday at 9:45 AM my darling 15 year old Calico cat "Cali " went on her journey to The Bridge  . She was only diagnosed with end stage renal disease the day before. My Cali fell ill on Thursday of last week and the vet had no idea what was wrong (as she never displayed any of the symptoms) associated with this disease. It wasn't until they got the blood test results back on Sunday that they knew what was happening! Cali's BUN and other levels were way way over the norm .I brought her home on Sunday morning thinking I may have a little more time with her but after a very restless night on Sunday , yesterday morning I realized my Cali was not going to see another day. :sad1: :sad1: So after wrestling with the only option I called the vet and had her come to the house to put my precious Cali to rest.As I sit here this morning my heart aches horribly and will for a long time to come! The only peace of mind I have now is that she is no longer hurting and that she has been reunited with her sister who left us in 2004  :sad1:

Oh, I am so sorry. I had been following your story. Peace to you in this time of sadness.

I will lend to you for awhile a kitten, God said.
For you to love while she lives, and mourn when she's dead.

Maybe for twelve or fourteen years, or maybe two or three.
But will you, 'till I call her back, take care of her for me?

She'll bring her charms to gladden you and, should her stay be brief
You'll always have her memories as solace for your grief.

I cannot promise she will stay, since all from earth return.
But there are lessons taught below that I want her to learn.

I've looked the whole world over in search of teachers true.
And from the folks that crowd life's land I have chosen you.

Now will you give her all your love, nor think the labor vain?
Nor hate me when I come to take my kitten home again?

I fancied then that I replied 'Dear Lord Thy Will Be Done'
For all the joys this kitten brings the risk of grief we'll run.

We'll shelter her with tenderness, we'll love her while we may.
And for the happiness we've known, forever grateful stay.

But should you call her back much sooner than we planned,
We'll brave the bitter grief that comes, and try to understand.
If, by our love we've managed your wishes to achieve,
Then in memory of the one we loved, please help us while we grieve.

And when our cherished kitten departs this world of strife,
Please send yet another one to love for all her life.

:grouphug: Yesterday morning we had to say goodbye to our border collie. I understand the emptiness and heartache you are going through. :grouphug: I'm so sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry for your lost. I lost my beloved Midora last year after having her w/me for 13 years. It was very sudden, and as it turned out one of her kidneys was enlarged and the other had shrunken. she had some birth defects, so I had known formt he get-go that this might happen. She died naturally in my arms and it was the most heartbreaking moment of my life.

Virgo10's poem is so true! This past April, nearly a year after Midora was "called to the Bridge," I decided to go to the SPCA here in Central FL to adopt a new kitty. I went for a specific girl (who wanted no part of me!) but ended up with the 7 mo boy in the cage below her. My dad said Cedric (that's his name) picked me. He has brought much joy (and a bit too much licking of my face) to me. I sincerely hope that when the time comes, you are as fortunate In fact, I am sure you will be.

I am so, so, so sorry for your loss. I only had one day's notice with my Cody also. It was so quick I hardly had time to process that he was really ill and was gone. Big hugs.

So sorry. Having been thru a similar situation I know how painful it is.

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear about this

I can understand your pain as I lost my dear cat a couple of years ago very suddenly. Had her for 10 years. She was fine one day, the next she couldn't control her bladder. I thought maybe a urinary tract infection so took her to the vet, they said no, maybe she was mad at me for some reason and was choosing to go outsider her litter box as punishment. But by the next day she was almost continually dribbling urine and was having trouble with her back legs. I took her back and said SOMETHING is wrong. That "something" turned out to be cancer, in her spine. I let them put her to sleep since it was inoperable. Very difficult to deal with though. It's so hard losing a furbaby.

I am so sorry :sad2:

We had to put my 14 year old golden to sleep a week ago today. she was older than me and had been around my whole life so it was very sad. :sad1:
 to you

I'm so very sorry. We lost our Kara (13 yo Persian) the exact same way. She did not show any signs either.

oh, mb... I'm so sorry.

I was just thinking about Cali when I read this. It hit me like a punch.

I know how hard it is so accept a long distance hug from you for you and your furbaby...
