cali grill or narcooses..... no contest!!!!

we just got back and had a few unmagical things happen that i won't get into but i have to let everyone no that the food at narcooses was maybe the worst food i have EVER had. I ordered filet mignon and it looked like two pieces of bad fatty steak that shredded. DISGUSTING. everyone else in my party got surf and turf and the lobster tails tasted like rubber and the filet was the same as mine eventhough everyone ordered them cooked differently. why bother asking how you want it cooked. and the service definitly did not make up for the unedible dinner. I will never be going back there. On the other hand California Grill was amazing. I ordered the pork with goat cheese something and it was awesome. I wished I had just gone there twice instead of narcooses. oh well live and learn. Everyone else got some sort of meat I forget what it was but it was fantastic. That is definitly one of my must do's from now on. Oh my husband ordered the spicy tuna rolls for and appetizer and he said they were the best he has ever had.

I ate at Narcooses and had a great meal. I would go back to this restaurant again. Ate at California Grill several times. Also love this restaurant but one time I went the meal wasn't that great and the service was pretty bad, but that won't stop me from going back. One bad time at a restaurant won't stop me from trying it again, especially when it has a good rep. but if it was a few bad times, then I would be done.

Narcoosee's is incredibly mediocre, IMO... The worst service at Disney and very overpriced and unimaginative cuisine. It shouldn't even be mentioned in the same category as Cali Grill, which to me is in a class by itself -- it's got superb food, gorgeous views and topnotch service.

Narcoossee is among our favorites. Excellent food and superlative service every time we've been there. Californial Grill is a good restaurant, but service is often pretty mediocre. You're definitely paying a lot extra for the view, because the food and service doesn't add up to the cost.

I Love CG even tho last trip I had really atrocious service.

I just tried Narcoosees for the first time last trip & had a really excellent experience there. Everything was done perfectly - the food, the service, the view of Wishes from the Deck.... I didn't go for imaginative cuisine, tho- I went for Surf & Turf & what I had was excellent. I am pretty tough to please as I am a classicly trained chef & Narcoosees stood up to the challenge for us. Sounds like either we had a Lucky Night or you had an Off Night. Sorry your experience there wasn't as good as ours.

Did you try the Cali Grill while you were there? We are going in December (just the two of us) and wanted nice dinners. With your background in training as a chef, it appears that we should trust your opinion. Not to mention you are a fellow are Rochesterian!
We have reservations one night at Narcoosie's and are looking for some other ideas.

I realize that people do have good experiences at Narcooses hence we tried it because of all the good things I had heard, but this was not just a bad night. The whole rest of the week we had talked to people on the bus and on the monorail as well as at Ohana and no one had one good thing to say about Narcooses except the view which I will agree is great. There is no excuse for food and service to be that bad and for the prices to be that high. Besides the fact that there is nothing unique about the menu it is very plain.
