Hi all,

My and my family leave for disney on tuesday and I've been religiously watching restaurant menus for weeks. Ive noticed the Cali grill menu changing a lot recently (3 times in like 3 weeks) and now the menu on the disney website is showing it as a kind of buffet like the brunch? The alls ears menu has pretty much stayed the same the whole time :confused3

Just wondering if anyones been recently, or knows whats going on?

Thanks

I think the brunch is on Sunday only.

Their menu has always changed frequently so that they can use ingredients that are in season. They just didn't post the variations as much as they are now.

I see what you mean about the dinner menu... there are no prices except on a couple of items which might be upcharges. It seems like a buffet format. This would be devastating as I just had bariatric surgery and this is the ONE place my child wanted to go our first night. There is no way I could justify CA Grill prices for an AYCTE. I will do it for the character meals but if the brunch is $80 a person I can't imagine how much a dinner is. No kid menu either :(

If i had recent reservations I would watch closely but this sure look like a buffet format to me. I would change the title to say "CA Grill Dinner a buffet now?" because this is not just a seasonal menu change... might get more people watching it.

I looked at the menu and I agree it is worded oddly with the different stations. However, with a big change, such as going to a buffet, I really feel like we would have heard something about it. Hopefully someone has eaten there recently that can verify.

Very odd..we have a reservation in two weeks! I wonder if it is the menu for one of the New Years events?

That new menu is weird. If the prices though, are upcharges, it doesn't make sense that the filet and strawberry salad are upcharges. Those seem like weird things to upcharge.

Using the word station just seems to be related to the kitchen set up. We like to sit at the sushi bar and watch them cook and to talk to the chefs, etc. I would guess that someone sent a kitchen list up the chain to be posted instead of the finished menu list which would have the prices. It definitely isn't turning into a buffet for dinner. Thank god!

Hopefully, but that doesn't really explain the entree course being titled "From the Grill and Island". Going by that logic, it would likely be the seafood/meat station.

Fingers crossed that this is just an issue where a holiday menu was inputted by mistake. A couple of the items definitely seem aimed for the winter season, so this could be the NYE dinner menu.

I hope it doesn't change to a buffet. We will cancel for sure, we strongly dislike buffets.

I wouldn't go by the Disney website's menu too much. When I was there I checked the menu on the monorail ride over and when we got to the restaurant almost the entire menu was different, which was really disappointing because I wanted something on the online menu.

Something is wrong in the MDE app and the brunch menu is showing up under dinner plus Chef Mickeys is showing up as being in the convention center. I could see the regular dinner menu on the website up until a few days ago but now that is apparently also messed up.

I agree it could be a special event menu. But in regards to the use of "from the grill and island" those dishes are all prepared on the island that is in the center of the kitchen. The rest of the stations are around the sides--sushi counter on the left, salad prep behind that onto the back wall, side dishes and plancha preparations are on the left side of the island while the grill is on the right side. So, it can't be called a "station" because it actually is two stations/two different cooking areas. Then on to the Woodburner on the back right wall, desserts on the opposite counter from sushi chefs with expediter in the middle. Going by memory, don't have a photo handy lol. Regardless of what this menu is and how it got posted, CG is not going to turn into a dinner buffet.

Interns Gone Wild. I wouldn't worry.
I hope you are right. I was already resigned to paying signature prices when I couldn't eat that much because it is such a tradition for us but I'm not sure I could stomach CA Grill dinner buffet prices if brunch is $80 a pop.

The entire Disney dining section of the website was down on Monday afternoon (8/7) so they obviously were doing updates.

There is simply no way the Strawberry Salad is an upcharge, but the Octopus or Lobster salads are not. Let alone the caviar station.

The Wild Mushroom Filet has a cost listed, but not the Wagyu or Lobster Tail.

There is simply no way this isn't an error of some kind. These items may be offered, but they aren't AYCTE with upcharges for the things with listed prices.
