We have ADRs at Cali Grill at 7:30pm on a night when Wishes starts at 10pm.

If we finish dinner before the fireworks, will we still be allowed to stay on the balcony to watch them?:confused3

THX:worship:

Yes- when you're done eating, just save your receipt, and closer to fireworks time, just show that to get back up to watch.

What if we don't want to leave ... I've read some posts where dinner is served way too fast and others where it can take forever (which is what I'm hoping for). So we were just going to stay there. I guess that's OK?

Actually it's probably not just okay to stay after your meal is over. There have been some pretty heated threads on the subject here.

If you want to hang out after dinner, all you need to do is go over to the viewing deck. Beyond that, chances are pretty good you won't be able to see the fireworks directly from your table anyhow. Only a select few tables have really good views, a few more have limited views, and many have a full or limited view of the skyline, but not really the fireworks. A part of the window area that might have agood view is used for the lounge area. It may be possible to stay inthe lounge if it isn't full, but usually I'm too full after a meal for that (and too low in the wallet :lmao:) as you would be expected to get a cocktail.

In my experience, it takes about 1 1/2 hours to dine there. So you may have time to explore the resort, or you may just find it best to head out to the observation deck.

They probably won't throw you out if you finish early. But it's certainly not good form to then sit at your table for another hour or so waiting for the fire works. You MAY be able to grab a seat at the bar or in the small lounge--but not very likely. So you can either walk out on the observation deck and stand for an hour, or just walk around the Contemprary shops etc for an hour.
The last is what I would do.

you can finish dinner then go out on the balcony. you can finish dinner, leave and return to the balcony. If you let your server know you plan on watching the fireworks, the good ones will time the meal so you have dessert waiting right after. Tip appropriately.

We would mind standing on the balcony and waiting for the show. From other posts, the pictures are amazing with the sunset. Thanks all!:lovestruc

Even so, there is no way your dining experience will take 2 1/2 hours! I'd say enjoy your meal, walk around the resort a bit, then go back up right before Wishes and enjoy the show :)

Or just take extra long eating...haha. But in all seriousness, I would recommend maybe getting an after dinner drink (coffee/cocktail) and then heading out to the observation deck. Enjoy it...it is a wonderful experience!

Does the deck get crowded? I assume it's quite large. Is there seating?

There are two observation decks, one you walk to from the restaurant side and then there is another deck at the back just beyond the restrooms. The front deck can get a bit crowded shortly before the fireworks begin. The best views from there are toward the middle. You can also get decent views from the rear deck and it is much less crowded but the view of the fireworks aren't as good. However, I have noticed that you can sometimes catch Illuminations (from a FAR distance) fireworks from back there.

There is no seating out there.
