Hi,
I would like to watch Wishes while eating dinner at California Grill. How much in advance of the Wishes start time should I make my ADR for? Also, is there anything you can do to get a table with a good view?

When you check in, you can request a window table with a view of Wishes, but there is no guarantee you will get one or get one in time for the show. However, you can watch the show from the viewing deck regardless of where you are seated. With regards to timing, you should probably aim for an ADR about 90 minutes ahead of the show time.

If you do not mind eating at a smallish and low table, you can have your dinner at one of the window tables in the waiting area. They will offer you the full menu. We almost did this, but the table was to small to comfortably seat three adults.

If you're lucky enough to score a window seat, will there be people standing outside in front of you? (Sorry if a dumb question...I don't know how this restaurant/observation deck is set up.) Also, if you are outside, can you still hear the music from out there?

If you get a window table, no one can block your view from the outside. The observation deck sticks out to the right of the restaurant (from where you enter) and does not wrap around the building.

They pipe the music out onto the observation deck. I did not have any problems hearing it!

Last time we arrived about an hour before Wishes and got a nice seat that had a view of the castle, but not a window seat. We timed it so that we had just finished our appetizers when wishes started and we went out to the observation deck to watch the fireworks. Our server, Walter, waited for us to sit down and placed our entrees on the table after about 1 min. It was perfect timing by our server and was a perfect way to enjoy the meal and Wishes.

The night my BF and I will be in Magic Kingdom I was only able to get an ADR at Cali Grill for 8:50. Wishes is at 9. Any suggestions on how to still see it from the restaurant? What happens if we arrive really early to our ressie?
