I think history has proven runDisney calendars are a little wonky.

Seems with the cash cow that is runDisney, they wouldn't let a little construction stop a race. They could decrease it to a 10K (or 13K), change the course a bit, and probably be good to go.
East coasters would not be happy losing an event.

If it's cancelled, I'm bummed.
But I hope it means good things for the Studios.

There was speculation of no Everest challenge with the construction at AK. TOT is a total #blindside. With my current FD BB offer booked, I was going to be there during the typical TOT run time frame. On the bright side, I won't have to worry about when registration opens. I won't have to have the discussion with DH that I want to do the race. It saves money.

My son was registered for Tower of Terror this year, but due to school issues, was not able to go, so we deferred his entry. What happens if they actually do not hold the race--can he use the "credit" towards another Run Disney race?

Somebody posted on another thread on these boards the dates for 2015 races and ToT is listed on Oct.2-3 with registration opening Feb.10th.What's correct,I have no idea,maybe even Run Disney isn't quite sure as construction timelines are probably pretty loose and unknown.Even if there's construction I don't see why it would need to cancel the race.Its common knowledge that ToT doesn't have the greatest course out there,I mean they can go nuts and have us run to and inside AK,cut a little bit of the route inside WWoS and have us either finish outside DHS or how about finishing at the Lights ,Motors,Action show,plenty of room for spectators and its between the two rumored construction areas.My point is the race can be held with modifications,you change the route and have us run inside AK that would just give me another reason to sign up next year even though I was planning on not doing it next year.

Maybe they're working on rerouting the race and don't want to commit to a date if they're not sure what will be done yet. You're completely right about the ToT not being the greatest course. I would be happy to see it get changed up. If it's not in 2015 I hope it's back in 2016.

My friend had a similar thought - there are lots of rumors of upcoming construction at DHS, so maybe no ToT next year but then it will come back after?

I was surprised to Everest and not ToT on the list.

They've reposted the calendar on twitter, and still no tower.

But, I'm not giving up hope yet! EEC wasn't on a lot of official stuff, but there it is.

So you never know.

If not, it's an excuse to do the Wine and Dine. Which is probably on a lot of ppl's minds.

No, I think Tower of Terror really is a no-go. My son had to defer his bib this year, so I called Run Disney to ask what happens to deferrals, and she said Run Disney would be sending out emails to those with deferrals later today...

That sucks. I ran ToT for the first time this year and enjoyed it. Was a fun race. Sad to see it go but glad I did it this year now.

Hopefully it is just a one year thing, but if so you think rundisney would come out and say something.

Yes, it is official. I deferred to next year and just got an email from RunDisney. They are offering a guaranteed entry to a single RunDisney event from the following:

· 2015 Avengers Super Heroes Half Marathon

· 2016 Walt Disney World® 10K

I'm hearing talk of suspension/cancellation (whatever terminology you want to use since it pretty much boils down to the same thing in the end anyway) is due to Star Wars expansion over at HS.

Question...If that was the main reason then how is the Everest still around in the midst of heavy construction due to Avatarland? Or how the marathon/w&d also runs through the park?

I can understand if they needed to alter the course but to remove it altogether given the other races than go through the same area of the park...something is off about the timing of this whole thing.

Cause EEC doesn't go through that part of the park. You run by the path to the old Camp Minnie Mickey.

So it doesn't effect the course.

But...
For some reason - maybe it's just post TofT high, I feel like something else will be announced for WDW later.

Me too - hoping it'll come back another year! Or at a minimum it'd be great to have a Halloween themed race weekend of some sort at WDW in October.

That would be really cool! I just wish there was a little more time between Wine & Dine and Avengers so I could do both for a C2C!
