Hi everyone!

We usually have a few days at St Petes or Clearwater each trip to relax a little. Has anybody tried the trip to Caladesi Island? We were thinking about giving it a try this time. Just wondered if people thought it was worth trying? ::yes:: :wave2:

Hello. We had a super day on Caladesi Island in 2002, we were staying on Indian Shores and drove up to Honeymoon Island and got the boat over to Caladesi at about 10 am.
We sat on the beach and watched the dolphins hunting about 50 yds off shore, they came back up about mid afternoon.
I didnt swim, there were signs everywhere beware of stingrays, but plenty of people did. There were other people about but it was by no means busy.
There is a small store/fast food place where we got a sandwich for lunch but it wasn't great, another time I would take a cooler.
The sea screamer came up during the afternoon, you heard it before you saw it.
We had a lovely relaxing day and would do it again.

We went early-got the first boat over, and the island was almost deserted. Spent our time shelling-there were lots of shells and sand dollars on the beach-swimming, and watching the pelicans and terns. Didn't see dolphins, but did see an armadillo in the undergrowth when we were walking back to the dock. Take your own beach umbrella as there's no shade, and a picnic too.

HI

Thanks for that info.. I think we will definately have a trip there, i love spending a day at the beach and it sounds lovely and relaxing. It would be even better to see some dolphins as i have only ever seen them at seaworld!!! :wave2: I think the picnic idea is a good one to..

Thanks
