Cake recipies with Soy?

I need to make a birthday cake for a co-worker who has a dairy allergy (no milk or butter). Does anyone know of a cake that can be made without butter or with soy milk that I can make that she could eat?

DD's best friend has a dairy allergy as well. Her mom just found cake mixes that don't have any dairy. They are just the regular ones (Duncan Heinz or Betty Crocker or something) but you have to search the back of the boxes for the ingred. I am almost positive that the strawberry cake mix and the white icing are free of dairy, but not 100%. I can't call her right now, she is not home.

If I were you I'd just spend 15 min in the baking aisle at the store and check the back of the boxes. I think there is also a white cake mix that doesn't have it.

you may alternatively want to serve sorbet and fruit.

Also if you have a whole foods or Organic store near you ask if they sell cakes without Dairy or butter. It is possible that you may be able to order one.
