Cake price??

We are having a custom 3-tiered madhatter cake. Is they any way to reduce the cost without losing a tier and without choosing a standard design? I think with the tax, ours is up over $1000 (1043). Plus a $205 handling fee. Not a huge deal...as a cool cake is a priority for us.

Did you do custom flavors? I think you could reduce if you remove fresh fruit, sometimes it raises the price.

I didn't even realize there were custom and non-custom flavors. I think ours are sort of standard...not sure:

chocolate/pb filling
red velvet/cream cheese
marble/buttercream

We are having a 3 tier custom cake which isn't too detailed as you can see below and it's costing us $773.19, we were thinking about a mad hatter cake as well but realized it wasn't worth our money and can put it towards something else we want. We were quoted a 3 tier mad hatter which also came out to $1000 with no special fillings. I say take the money and run, lol

I love that cake. I saw it somewhere before and was trying to think of how to describe it and then add some bright colors to give it the feel we were looking for. Didn't happen...and so we ended up with a one grand, 3-tiered madhatter! We just got a quote on a custom cake topper too...$225.

Thanks, we were having the same dilemma, every cake I would show my planner that i wanted was going to be $900 or more, until I said 4get it, let's go with something simple that we both like and we got to a price we can live with.

Yikes!!! $225 for a cake topper...if I were you (just my opinion) I would find a simple cake, spruce it up with your style and either buy yourself a cake topper or add your favorite flower on top...save yourself that money or put it towards something else you want.

We do not have a handling fee because our reception is at the Grand Floridian Resort.
