Hi,

Setting up some surprises for the wife while we are at WDW for our 20th anniversary in July.

Ordered flowers to be delivered to the room on one night. Cake on another night. And surprise dinner a couple of nights later.

My problem?
Finally got through to talk to someone and the person who calls me back. Has an accent the makes it frustrating as I could not understand him.

It's only the 2 of us so I ordered the small cake. vanilla or chocalate - boring but acceptable. Seeing how I don't need on to feed 16 people. But he said I have to pick it up at the dining area - POFQ. Realy wanted it to the room. Also I get the impression that this is going to be a plain generic cake you would buy at the local supermarket.

while I see all these cool looking cakes that seem to be small enough to be the one I ordered. I tried to inquire about cake topping and all I got was that they will write on it. Don't think he understood me - again the language barrier.

I'll try to call back and leave another message and hope they call back. Has anyone ordered the small 8" cake? And was it nice? Sorry but I need to see what I am ordering. And as far as I know there is no WDW cake site.

thanks for any info.
Fred

What resort are you staying at?

POFQ - Port Orleans French Quarter.

CharacterFan, Thanks for the link. I saw two cakes there that I've seen before. The one with tinkerbell on top would be perfect. And the mini wedding cake is cool. As she is a floral designer and weddings are her thing.

I left another message with the Boatwrights restaurant so I can change my order.

Ok, If anyone is interested. Ordering a cake has been the worst Disney experience yet. I've spent more than 3 hours trying to order a cake.

No room delivery which I could live with. But I finally got the head guy at the french quarter bakery and kept feeling that he was talking me out of a cake.

The mini wedding cake I was told that would be over $100. And I would have to go through the Disney wedding service. It's only me and my wife so I only wanted a 8" cake. But would have liked a little cake topper. Well I was told then I would be into the custom cakes. And I said ok. another few bucks is ok. well that's not it. To get a cake topper I need to order a custom cake. which starts at $45. The add the cost of custom decorations $35 just to throw a stinking little tinkerbell on the cake.

Well I will get the cake at the cafeteria and just hope it looks good. They definitly need a cake website.

So after this I am NOT impressed with the disney cake system or lack of!!!:sad2:

That stinks!!
I ordered a cake for my fiancee's bday a couple of years ago and they brought it onto a pontoon boat for us. It was only like $26 and really tasty! Try and get a regular birthday-type cake?
