Cake in an orange shell

i have not seen a recipe for cake in an orange shell, but i do know that they sell sorbet or ice cream or something like that in an orange, lemon, or coconut shell at Trader Joe's. just thought i'd share.

If I remember correctly, we made these when I was a girl scout. I might have a recipe for it somewhere, but I'll have to go search out the cookbook I think it may be in.

Well, we made these in Girl Guides but there was never a recipe. We used a cake mix and the directions on the box for the batter. Seems to me that chocolate chips stirred in were a real treat! We hollowed out an orange and filled it 1/2 way with the batter. We replaced the orange peel "lid" and wrapped it up in several layers of tin foil. It went into the coals in the fire pit for about 30 minutes.
If you were doing this in the oven, I'd follow the box directions for the amount of time used to bake cupcakes.
Yummy!!!
Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
