Cake ideas needed

Haha,, when I read this post, my first thought was the *pig cake* she had. It looks so good and easy to make!!

I was so happy to see the pig cake recipe. It seems to be one I had years ago, loved and lost! Yeah!

Here are two recipes that go together great and both are so easy. I don't know how to post a link though, sorry!

Find "Crazy Cake" on allrecipes.com It's crazy, but yummy!

Find "That's The Best Frosting I've Ever Had" on Tasty Kitchen, which is a link from thepioneerwoman.com website. It really is one of the best!

It is very good!! It's one of the first cakes I ever learned how to make as a teenager! The pistachio one is good, too!!!

You will not go wrong if you do a cake from a box....they are tried and true.
If you had the time and wanted to go way different - have you ever heard of bakerella and her cake pops?
www.bakerella.com
I made some reindeer for Christmas and they were a hit - so adorable!
Wish I had a picture to post!

Doctoring up a box is pretty good though - just get a basic white or yellow mix and add the flavoring you want and go crazy with a filling. I do love the chocolate with cherry pie filling in the middle - yum!

The January/February issue of Food Network Magazine has a very fun-looking igloo cake, with directions so clear and simple even I could make it :rotfl: It uses one box of yellow (although you could probably use any flavor you want, and I second the suggestion of Duncan Hines) cake mix, a donut, vanilla frosting, white chocolate, and sanding sugar. For baking utensils you need a round cake pan and a bowl. I can get you the actual instructions later... but it's so simple, I have this much of it memorized already, and I only skimmed the recipe once :)

Hawaiin Wedding Cake

Box of yellow cake mix
Can of mandarin oranges. (I use the large size)

Topping:
Cool-whip
Crushed pineapple (large can)
small box of vanilla pudding.

Make the cake as usual, stir in drained oranges. Bake and let cool.

To make the frosting.
Empty the cool-whip into a large bowl, mix in the dry pudding mix and drained crushed pineapple. Spread all over the cake.

This cake is best if chilled. If you can chill it overnight, great, otherwise throw it in the freezer for a while.

The cake is really good. May not look like much, but the taste is great.

oooh I'm going to have to look through this website. My dh just texted me and said that for cub scouts they are having a cake walk and we are suppose to get creative and have themed cakes.

When I make a cake from a box I use recipes from the Cake Doctor to doctor them up. I personally like homemade better, but "doctoring" up the box mix does a pretty good job.

We had to do that when my son was in Scouts. He made a pizza cake. Just a yellow cake mix done in round pans (this made 2). He tinted frosting red for pizza sauce, used coconut for shredded cheese, cut out pepperoni from red fruit by the foot, and used green fruit by the foot for green peppers. They were so cute, and went so fast! I stopped by Dominos and they gave me 2 pizza boxes to put them in.

Simplest cake ever and everyone at work used to love it

Bake a cake.
Poke holes in the top in rows usually I use a somthing small
Poor over cherry jello (make it and before it turns to jello)
Put it in the fridge
Few hours or day later add cool whip and canned cherries
