Cake Handling Fee

I just checked my e-mail and was so happy to see I finally got my BEO . It was not that bad and DF is only making me change a few things. The one thing that is freaking me out is a $550 "cake handling fee".
5-5-0 ! If this the norm? Please tell me this a mistake.

LOL, that's what I thought until DF looked at all the litte print. The cake I wanted is a "custom cake". They are going to charge me $1,850 for the cake + $550 for the handling fee. . It looks like I have to pick another cake

The way they explained it to me is the price of "handling" (= moving) the cake from one location to another. Because they have to be moved from GF bakery to wherever your location might be.
Then again, it make sense that it could be the cake cutting cost...

I believe the cake handling fee has a lot to do with number of slices cut
then the price to move it from the bakery to the reception
and the number of layers.

ours was about two something a slice to just cut it
so it ended up being a little cheaper but right around there
