Cake Flavors

DH isn't a sweets person and I'm not a chocolate person (shocking, I know!) but I love raspberries so we went with marble cake with raspberry mousse filling on both layers. It was delicious because it wasn't too sweet. We froze the top and it held up great for our 1st anniversary.

Why did I not even think about doing different flavors on each layer!!??? We could have

We are having chocolate with bailey's cream filling. We were going to go with the Bavarian but the Bailey's just kicked it's butt!! :rotfl2:

Are we likely to be able to pay extra to upgrade to these flavours, as they're not all offered in the standard Escape list?
I think Lynn might have paid extra for her chocolate chips, so I'm hoping they'll let us do this too, although whether we can have 2 different flavours for the layers I'm not sure.I can't actually remember what the options are for Escape flavours now, but I'm almost certain PB wasn't one of them :sad1:

You can request any of the flavors offered to Wishes weddings - there may just be some that aren't offered by the bakery that makes your cake. It depends on your wedding location.

There is no upcharge to customize the flavors - except I believe Lynn said she paid $5 more for chocolate chips. This is the only time I've ever heard of paying extra, but it's also the only time I've heard of getting chocolate chip cake - wish I'd known about it in time for my wedding! ;)

We are having:

Top Layer: Chocolate and Peanut Butter Mousse (by request from DF)
Bottom Layer: Almond Cake and Bavarian Creme.

The Almond Cake at our tasting was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD!!!!! They Bavarian Creme is yummy but I think the almond cake is better with the amaretto filling but alas my family is picky so I made the flavor kind of neutral. I thought the Almond Cake with the Amaretto filling tasted very similar to an Italian Cookie.

Our cake was...

Top: Chocolate Cake with Raspberry Mousse
Middle: Marble Cake with White Chocolate Mousse and Fresh Strawberries
Bottom: Chocolate Cake with Raspberry Mousse

It was AWESOME!!! We had rave reviews from our guests about the wedding cake. DH and I both had a piece of each flavor at our reception, and it still tasted great when we thawed it out on our anniversary. I say, pick flavors that the two of you like...you really can't go wrong!:thumbsup2

Well here's hoping the bakery (think it'll be the BW bakery) can provide us with all the scrumminess we desire!!

You wouldn't have thought they would have bothered with $5 extra would you? I thought it was $50, but maybe I'm wrong....

Top and bottom layer ~ Chocolate cake with Peanut Butter Cup mousse
Middle layer ~ Almond cake with Amaretto mousse

I too asked for a couple of flavors for the tasting, and I didn't have any of the flavors I asked for. Oh well.

They don't offer them for Escape weddings. The closest thing to a cake tasting is to order a small cake in the flavor you want from the bakery that will make your wedding cake (i.e., the bakery closest to your wedding site). Except for BoardWalk Bakery, which is the only one that allows you to pick up a cake, that means you need to be staying or eating at that resort.

You can call Disney's Cake Hotline (407-827-2253) and follow the prompts to get to the restaurant or resort you pick. The smallest cakes are 6 inches and cost $21.

Good thinking and thanks for answering my Q! I'm sure to have a ton more, and it's clear from the posts that you are the all-knowledgeable Disney wedding source! :worship:

Ok I'm Curious...

What's the difference between Peanut Butter Mousse & Peanut Butter Cup Mouse?

DF is a huge PB fan and I know one of our layers will have to be PB!

And one more question, which taste better?

The peanut butter cup mousse is the peanut butter mousse and chocolate mousse while the peanut butter mousse is just straight peanut butter flavor. We had the cup mousse on our top layer (which was a mistake since DH just wanted the pb) and thought it was too chocolate-y with the chocolate cake and that you lost the pb flavor. For our anniversary they remade the top layer with chocolate cake & pb mousse only and we enjoyed that a lot more.

Top layer: Chocolate cake with peanut butter
Middle layer: Marble cake with chocolate mousse & fresh raspberries
Bottom layer: Almond cake with amaretto (and my favorite!)

Gah I am sooooo hungry for cake now!!

Bottom Layer - Marble with Chocolate Mousse
Middle Layer - Marble with Raspberry Mousse
Top Layer - Vanilla with Baileys Mousse

I loooooove the Raspberry Mousse, it was soo soo yummy!

For Escape weddings - can you pick different flavors for the two layers? Right now we are getting almond cake and raspberry mousse filling, but may want to do another flavor for the 2nd layer if we can. Thanks!

That's funny - I had the exact opposite reaction! I found the straight peanut butter mousse to taste too tangy and cream-cheesey on its own and liked it a lot better cut with the sweetness of the chocolate mousse. But then, I am someone who has never uttered the pharse "This tastes too sweet"! :rotfl:

Yes!

For your anniversary did you just contact the GF bakery? I want to have a cake remade for our 1st anniversary trip too.

HAHA Meryl it was not $50 lol.. I think it was ten to add the chocolate chips.

It was soooooo good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm going to have them make a mini cake for our anniversary :)
