Part 5 – More MK & E-Night #1

We had not finished our sandwiches at the Plaza, so we each took home a half sandwich for dinner. We rested at the hotel for a long while and when it was about time for dinner, we took our leftovers to the lounge and added some wonderful fried rice as a side (compliments of Chef Dick in the concierge lounge) and had dinner for the night. We were heading back to MK tonight for e-ride night. I have to say I LOVE enight! Being able to get right on and off of the rides is awesome. After finishing dinner, we headed via boat to the MK (We found the boat to be a relaxing, FAST mode of transportation). Upon arriving, we got our wrist bands for enight, then decided to head to Adventureland. We went through the Swiss Family Robinson Tree House, where Chris tripped (of course not watching where he was going), and had a minor melt down, which he took out on Andrew. (poor Andrew…he was trying so hard to make Chris feel better, but Chris is one of those kids that you just leave him alone when he is upset/mad...anything else makes it worse). Chris was put in a better mood by the spitting camels at Aladin. (He loves to get wet!)We rode Jungle Cruise next. It had been a long time since I enjoyed this ride (when we went in 2002, it was an awful experience…was holding my breath and waiting for the ride to finish because the folks next to me had the worst case of BO!). Well, this time was a hoot! I love the corney jokes and our “Skipper” had a great way of delivering them. We moved along to POTC. There was a fairly long wait for this ride, (although 20 min wait was posted at entrance), but we didn’t mind since the cue here is so interesting, and it is AIR CONDITIONED. (yes it was VERY HOT and HUMID our entire stay) This is a favorite of all of ours, so we enjoyed this (all agreed though that the virtual reality one at DQ is far much better than the original). We went to see another favorite Tiki Birds (we only went to this in 2002 to get out of the rain, and were pleasantly surprised by it.). It seems to have changed a little bit since we last saw it (either that, or we just didn’t have good memories). It was getting late when we finished , so we went to the restroom and found a spot right in Frontierland to watch Spectro. Again, all of love this parade. While waiting, Chris sees a vendor with something that he wants, and asks me to hand over some of his spending money from the backpack Of course I pack the backpack like my suitcases, and have a lot of stuff in there, so it took a few minutes to find his wallet. By the time I give him his money, he races off by himself to catch the vendor (one of the last ones around since the parade is about to start). Well I panic, because I loose him in the crowd…but, I continue to follow the “logical” path he would have taken, until I come to a sullen, fighting back tears boy because he had missed all the vendors. I love my child, but he does not handle disappointment well. We go back to our parade watching spot, and he continues to pout. Again Andrew tries to console him only to get him even huffier. The parade finally begins much to everyone’s delight. Chris becomes happier as the parade progresses. He took almost an entire disposable camera of the parade and then borrows my camera to take more. After the parade we head toward the castle for Wishes. This is the first time we will see this new show. We found a rather crowed spot around the hub, and watched the new colors on the castle (the sorcerer hat design is really neat!). When the show started, we realized that we had a partially blocked view due to a large tree limb, which disappointed us at first. But Wishes was such a spectacular show, the we fell in love with it…blocked view and all! I absolutely loved the soundtrack to it. I had heard some people say that they had gotten “misty eyed” watching Wishes, and I remember reading those reports and thinking “ What weirdos…weeping at a fireworks show…get some help!” Well, I am now one of those weirdos. The narration in this show just touched a nerve with me…the whole show just makes me very nostalgic.

Now that Wishes was over, we were off to enight! Our first stop was Haunted Mansion. We had not done this at enight before (too spooky to the boys). There was a family of five entering the line before us (we will call them the Rude family). The CM posted at the beginning of the queue was asking to see wristbands as people entered (no problem…normal procedure for enight). These folks had no clue as to what enight was…and asked “what wristband?”. The CM politely told them that the park was officially closed for the night unless you purchased an enight ticket.
Mr. Rude turns to his wife and says, “Where are our tickets? You were supposed to take care of the tickets!”(actually more like screamed it at her in a nasty tone)
“I don’t know what she is talking about!”, Mrs. Rude responds. (in just as nasty a tone)
“Where can we get an enight ticket?” asked Mr. Rude.
“At your hotel if you are staying at a Disney hotel” replied the CM
“But we haven’t been to our hotel yet”, they both replied.
“I am sorry, the park is closed unless you have a wristband”, said the nice CM.
Well, at this point, the Rude family stomps off yelling at each other! We are finally allowed in the queue and ride HM. After HM, we decided to ride some of the Fantasyland rides that were open, so we did PeterPan, Adventures of Pooh (a first for me), and Phiharmagic!. Well, we absolutely LOVED Philharmagic!. It is beautiful and fun! Then we go on to Tomorrowland to do Space MTn. And Buzz (couple of times on Buzz). Then hoof it over to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (BTMR) and Splash Mtn.. We always tend to end the night with Splash. By this time, enight was over so we headed out of the parks. As we entered the monorail station, there was a pretty big crowd heading out of MK. When we got to the top of the ramp, the CM there told everyone to “Follow Lynn!”. Chris was amused by this (I actually didn’t hear it…too tired)…but this was another one of those things that happened because of our Guest of Honor Pins. Well this is the longest we waited for transportation our entire trip. Not long after we got to the “boarding” area, we could see a monorail approaching, but a CM then announced that the monorail was acting up, so they were not picking up any passengers with it. They had to get another monorail “on-line” to get us back to our hotel. Oh well, we made back eventually.

Part 6

This past summer was not a good one for the monorails. Seems like they had lots of problems. But it's still the coolest way to get around, right?

Annie&Hallie'sMom ... you are right ... traveling by monorail was REALLY FUN!! We unfortunately will be spoiled for life now that we have stayed at the Poly. Especially when it comes to transportation.

It sounds GREAT!!

But.....
it was your first enight :sad1:
without :sad2:
US!

How did you get Andrew on Splash? Did you do Space Mtn more than once? No promises this time? ;) I know Jessie would have loved to have been there - pushing them to go again... and Again.... AND AGAIN!!
