I'm copying the posts everyone has gathered here, this is a work in progress and will be updated as I save more into the document I'm working on. I'm putting the posts into chronological order so new ones will be added into the document based on there post time.
I've separated them into 3 sections. Disney planning, Just talking and the posts with more sensitive information will be saved into another book for Caitlyn to have when she's older. Here's information and how to help A book for Caitlyn - please help
If anyone has some title suggestions let me know. I haven't thought of anything that is just great. I'm hoping to find something within her words to use. Let me know of any other suggestions you have also. Although it doesn't show here I'm also doing different colors and formating that will make it a little easier to read.

My red freckle (funny Caitlyn story)
07-23-2001 03:02 PM
This all started a few months back. Caitlyn noticed that I had a few freckles on my nose....and she wanted some of her own. Well...sure enough she now has a total of 5 (which is a very good sounding number to a three year old). So every few days she has me check her face, arms, and legs for new additions. Last week as I was putting on my shirt Caitlyn gets very excited and starts pointing at my chest (I had a small little red spot on my upper chest area...it's been there for years) And she is just so happy that Mommy has a really neat red freckle. Today when I dropped her off at preschool she said that I had to stay for show and tell.....that she wanted her class to see me. So I agreed to come back during lunch for her show and tell. There I was standing in front of 20 something 3 year olds and Caitlyn was telling them that I was her favorite Mommy. It was just so cute...UNTIL she told me to take off my shirt so they could see the red freckle on my BOOB! I just wanted the ground to swallow me up....Caitlyn's teacher just couldn't stop laughing.
07-23-2001 05:24 PM
I simply showed all the kids my bright red face. Caitlyn says she wants to bring something fun next time. I think I really bursted her bubble when I didn't strip down
Snow White - Great Deal!!!
07-25-2001 10:21 AM
Wow...I might stop by the Disney Store after work and do my preorder. Sounds like a great deal to me. for $ 20 bucks it can take care of two xmas gifts for Caitlyn.
My new job (can someone pinch me???)
07-25-2001 12:04 PM
Well...I have been here a week and a half so far. The team I work on is the only one in a very large company that has met all goals for the first 2 quarters...and we are actually ahead. We are constantly being treated to lunch, get t-shiirts, coffee mugs, gift certificates, ball game passes....they are doing everything possible to keep our group happy. The funny thing about it is that we have NO work to do...In the last week I have only had to answer about 20 emails, 4 phone calls, and 1 real problem. My position is in marketing and sales for a group of engineers....I am here on the DIS for 6 hours out of my 8 hour day. Friday my boss took me aside and said that in the slow time I should just enjoy myself, I'm saleried and am only expected to work 35 hours. The people I work with a fantastic...I have never felt more welcome by people (well..maybe at a DIS meet.lol) When I was laid off in June I was worried sick that I wouldn't find anything...well now I am a whole 1.3 miles from home, Caitlyn's preschool is right across the street, I can set my hours, and work with incredibly wonderful people. Can you tell I'm a happy camper???

Baby products we can live without?
08-06-2001 09:28 AM
got my DD a new booster seat last month (Caitlyn 3 year old) It looked really cool at the store...cup holder, armrests, neck pillow. I hate this thing already...the armrests make it very hard to get her in and out, the cupholder isn't deep enough so her sippy cup falls out , and the neck pillow really makes no difference. I didn't care for the diaper genie either....I think we sold ours at a yeard sale for $3 bucks. I really liked the Infantfeeder. It is like a baby bottle but you put baby food in it. At 2 months old my peds told me to try it with baby applesauce. Caitlyn could suck down 2 4oz jars of baby food in 5 minutes flat. I always started with spoon feeding but when she would get tired this was the better way to go.
Sweetie, lovey, boo bear (pet names for your loved ones)?
08-06-2001 02:19 PM
Dan is usually just Dan. BUT when I do something bad...or want something he is instantly Honey or Sweetie. Caitlyn is Caity, Caity Bugs, Punkin, Bobo head (this started at daycare and carried over), or CAITLYN ELIZABETH...but that is only when she is doing something she knows is a BIG nono.
Have you helped a kid lately??
8-13-2001 14:37
I know we are all good at helping those less fortunate around the major holidays. But I was wondering if anyone has thought to help a needy child with back to school stuff?? I helped 2 kids (their father has terminal cancer and can not work) get much needed school supplies, clothes, personal items, ect. I can't even begin to tell you how much fun it was taking these kids to get them things. The look in there eyes had to be pretty close to the look in ours while at Disney World. I also donate a couple of Halloween costumes to women shelters every year. There is often a lot of help around Christmas...but I think we should really try to make a difference all year round.
I am not an overly religious person but I often think of what my dad used to tell me before he passed. "It's only by the grace of God that we are not in their shoes"
Please Read: How do you guys do it??????
08-13-2001 03:12 PM
I have been to WDW twice as a child.
The first time was when my mother and stepfather got married (I was 5 years old) between the two of them they had 5 children and decided that they would take us on their honeymoon. Dad was in the service so money was tight but we had a great vacation. Dennis my stepfather was at least 100 times the father my bio-dad ever thought of being.
The next time we went I was 14, Dennis had been in the hospital for over 4 months due to cancer. When we asked what he wanted for Christmas his answer was simple "I want to take my family to Mickey Mouse's house" Mom and I put everything into this trip...I babysat, mowed lawns, delivered phone books, cleaned office buildings, sold flowers on street corners...you name it we did it. One of the nurses on Dads floor had a brother that worked for Disney so we were able to get free passes. We drove from Dallas to Orlando in an old Winnebago motorhome and stayed at Fort Wilderness. I flew in his 2 DD's from LA to join us on the trip....Dad could not have been happier. I have great memories of that trip...his cancer went into remission and we thought everything was ok... We were wrong..he died 4 years later and we never were able to take another family trip.
We have 2 trips booked in the next year. I have been diagnosed with MS and want to take DD while I have energy.
I made roughly 65k last year....but due to my health and the fact that I want to be home moe with my DD I have stepped down and changed directions. I now only make about 30k. I clip coupons, only buy what is on sale, love clearance racks, cringe at the thought of paying full price for ANYTHING. I drive a yucky 93 minivan that makes a weird noise when ever I drive in any direction but to the left ( I love my car...it's ummm PAID for)
My wonderful SO works 60+ hours a week as a network design engineer and makes 100k+. This will be his first trip to WDW..you should have seen his face the day the plane tickets came in...he was SO excited. Dan never gives the cost a second thought. He orders stupid gadgets off sharperimage.com (who really needs tie organizer???), only shops at Whole Foods, uses $28 bottles of conditioner, and other wasteful things. He drives a brand new Cadillac Seville with all the add on options.
It is in my mindset to cut corners and skimp on the things that really dont make or break a trip. Dan said that this is my vacation...to book the best and he would cover it. I just simply can not do that. I have booked the CSR at 99 a night for 7 nights in Dec and am just tickeled pink not to have to sleep in a motorhome (I have no problems with nice ones but the Winnebago was a fire hazard to say the least). I am going to MVMCP and havinga couple sit down meals...but will still watch what I spend. This trip is very imprtant to me...I think it will be very healing to remember Daddy when he wasn't so sick...all the memories I pull up now are after he was diagnosed.
Okay, who the heck are YOU anyways?
08-17-2001 04:55 PM
OK...I have advoided this thread too long.
My name is Robin (shocking I know) I am 22. I have a DD who is 3...although when asked she holds up boths hands and says TEN You know us Texan girls...we do EVERYTHING early. I work full time less than 5 minutes from home and right across from my DD preschool (please read this as a BACK OFF to SAHMs that think they are better than working class) I have a great job with a major company as a marketing specialist (I LOVE coming to work) My true passion and best job ever is being a Mommy. I have been to Disney World a couple of times as a child but this is my first trip as an adult. We are also going again for Caitlyn's birthday/ Easter March 30- April 6th
My SO Dan is 46 (no that is not a typo...actually he'll be 47 on the trip) and is a network design engineer. We met about 18 months ago and are very happy with one another. He has no children so he is really enjoying Caitlyn. This will be his first ever trip to WDW...and he is just tickeled pink. Actually he just had lasik surgery on his eyes today so his contacts wont dry out on the fast rides.
We live in Plano (about 20 miles north of Dallas)
disneycub, have you...
08-27-2001 09:37 AM
I haven't been on much either. Work has picked up a bit and they have me writing tech docs for the website (BORING)! And I have been sick....last week I was running a temp of 102-103 most the time. I still came to work (I sit in a huge cube all by myself and all my co-workers stayed clear so as to not get sick) I figure I can be sick at work just as easily as home. I try to save any sick days for when I need to play "Super Mommy".
Dan had Lasiks done on his eyes...He is so HAPPY. Over night he went from 20/675 to 20/15, but he is driving me nuts now. Yesterday we were in the car and he kept reading the street signs out loud...I couldn't see what he was talking about to save my life! He also asked why in the world I needed 4 razors in the shower...I had no idea that they were there...I cant see without my glasses at all. LOL
Steve...You sound very much like my SO Dan. He actually wants to leave 'Corporate America' and buy a hot dog stand. He is a network design engineer servicing government markets...and is hoping to be working in ALASKA this fall/winter...I get the chills just thinking about it. A few months ago Disney had posted his dream job...then a few days later they announced the lay offs and the posting was taken down, but we are still very interested in moving to Mickey Mouse's house.
Taryn...This weekend I bought the perfect bathing suit, it was only $3.75 on clearance!! I was just thrilled to death....until I got home and tried the stupid thing on. Yuck...Maybe after I lose 30 more pounds I can THINK about wearing it.
08-27-2001 02:34 PM
Steve....Dan is a health nut. It drives me up the wall...He spends like $300 a month on vitamins and junk at Whole Foods. He actually wants to sell GOURMET hot dogs...Fancy smancy stuff.
Dan moved to Dallas from Denver a few years back...I think he misses the snow. We only get ice once or twice a year and the whole city shuts down. If he gets the Alaska deal he will be flying into Denver first just to go shopping for extream wear.
Kids losing their father to cancer. Need ideas.
8-27-2001 17:09
My babysitter and her little brother are going through a really hard time (they are 14 and 10). Their father is in the final stages of lung cancer. The Dr has ordered the hospice service to their home and he is not expected to last but maybe 1-2 weeks. I have been picking up the kids and trying to get them a little relief, their mother works full time and is unable to take time off unless its life or death (which I think this qualifies as but her boss says no...She is in the management training program for Wal-Mart....Yet another reason why I hate that store). I lost my father due to cancer a few years back and I dont want the kids to have to go through this alone. I dont know how to make them understand that I love them and care for them dearly. Since the father has no life insurance Dan and I are trying to arrange the funeral....he is a vet so he can be burried at the National Cemetary and I have a frined that can do the flowers if I buy the supplies. I want to make this easier on the family...just dont know what would actually help. Any sugestions?
I dont ask very often but they could really use some prayers and PD!
Thanks Everyone.
This is really hitting pretty close to home with me. I can't help but cry when I see Dave in such pain.

8-29-2001 14:10
After all this time I just couldn't take it anymore. I collect stained glass angels and they have one I can't live without. Click here to see Dan can't stop laughing...he is a Sharper Image auction addict, and is teasing me that soon I will be buying everything from ebay.com
Someone PINCH me...I have a kid FREE weekend!!!
8-29-2001 17:58
OMG....I thought my house was going to be over run with kids this weekend. It turns out that my mother wants to take Caitlyn, Marty, and Chase for the weekend.(Caitlyn is mine...the other 2 are loaners.lol) I am shocked...Dan and I haven't had time to ourselves for a long long time.
I'm so excited

Livia !!
You poor thing. I can't imagine trying to diet under those conditiond. I have spent the last 2 months complaining that my office encourages people to gain weight. We have a fantastic cafeteria in the bldg that serves breakfast, lunch and SNACKS...it's less than 2 minutes to walk there.
09-19-2001 09:49 AM
Steve... DRINK DRINK DRINK!! Keep up the good work.
When people look at Dan and I can see the cunfusion in their eyes.
He's thin and 46.... perfectly dressed, hair always just right, nevere a spot or stain
I'm chunky and 22.. I put my DD first, so that means less than designer clothes, hair pulled back in a pony tail so I have time to make breakfast, and almost always a spot somewhere. I have also been know to where nonmatching sock in a pinch!
The really odd thing is that I have MS and people are always asking what I would do if he were to get sick. Um... the same he does for me
A WONDERFUL post from a CM--'Why I do my job' *(tissue alert)*
For those of you who don't know me, I'm the moderator of the Just Say Thanks Board. I'm also a WDW Entertainment Cast Member, that's about as specific as I'll get . Anyhow, the other day I had a really bad day. Just totally lousy; lousy weather, lousy guests, lousy CMS, lousy lousy lousy...did I mention it was a bad day? Anyhow, I came home and started writing in my journal, as I often do when I get stressed and I started making a list of "Why I do my Job." I posted it on my locker at work, and lots of other CMs have really appreciated it. It ended up sounding kind of like a poem, so I thought I'd share it with y'all for a little inspiration....
WHY I DO MY JOB....
For the baby who takes his first steps into my arms. For the grandma in the wheelchair who doesn't think anyone is paying attention, and then squeals with delight when I sneak up behind her. For the little boy who is so scared he hides behind his mother, but after 10 minutes of patient "peek-a-boo" touches my finger. For the parents who laugh when they tell their kids, "Now turn around," and I turn around too. For every little child who hugs me and says, "I love you." For the blind girl who runs her hands over my face and is awestruck. For the little girl with braces on her legs who gets up and waltzes with the Beast. For the little toddler who blows me kisses. For the baby who sist on my lap and sucks my nose, or grabs my finger. For the people who clap along to the music on parade route. For the laugher. For the Make-a-Wish child who smiles and doesn't think about his pain. For the hugs. For every child who REALLY believes. For being able to act silly. For the smiles. For all the kids on parade route who think to themselves, "Someday I want to do that." For the chance, however brief, to make a difference in someone's life.
"Nothing is more wonderful than the imagination, for in a moment, you can experience a beautiful fantasy, or an exciting adventure..."

Middle Management- Cute joke
9-10-2001 17:12
Five cannibals get appointed as engineers in a defense company.
During the welcoming ceremony the boss says: "You're all part of our team
now. You can earn good money here, and you can go to the cafeteria for
something to eat. So don't trouble any of the other employees".
The cannibals promised not to trouble the other employees.
Four weeks later the boss returns and says: "You're all working very hard,
and I'm very satisfied with all of you. One of our janitors has
disappeared, however. Do any of you know what happened to him?"
The cannibals disavow all knowledge of the missing janitor.
After the boss has left, the leader of the cannibals says to the others:
"Which of you idiots ate the janitor?"
A hand raises hesitantly, to which the leader of the cannibals says:
"You fool! For four weeks we've been eating only Team Leaders and Project
Managers so no-one would notice anything, and you have to go and eat the
janitor!"
Am I the only one that wants to get their child?
09-11-2001 10:52 AM
I live in a sub of Dallas and would like nothing more then to go to my daughter's preschool and head home!!!!!! Your not alone.
How did you find out??
09-11-2001 03:09 PM
I got into the office about 7:30 central and headed down to the cafeteria for breakfast. By the time I got my stuff I caught the news about the first tower. I just thought it was a freak accident and went back to my desk. Then my ex called to tell me another plane crashed into the WTC...I went back to the cafeteria and watched CNN for about 3 hours. Our cafeteria was PACKED..I dont think anyone is getting much work done today.
An act of kindness for my DH in Canada
My DH and a co-worker were in a remote area of Canada yesterday on business. Through a lot of tries and broken cell phone calls I was communicating what happened yesterday to him. Last night they made it to a city call Sudbury, got rooms for the night and went to dinner. The restaurant manager and wait staff heard what was going on with them (difficulty getting back home) through many cell phone calls to wives/family/work. When it came to pay the bill they were told that "dinner is on us". My DH was surprised and said are you sure. They responded with they know what a hard time my DH was having and expressed sorrow for America.
It's hard to bring any light to this horrific situation but this act of kindness touched our hearts. Thank you Canada.
09-12-2001 11:24 AM
That is very touching! Thank You Canada
Working with a disability
By mhopset
I am going to try and post this without an attitude. If I get nasty please forgive me.
This tradgey is absolutly horrible. I cried yesterday watching this on television. I really cried when I heard that the people in wheelchairs did not get out. It scares me to death for all the handicapped people working in buildings that put their life on the line daily just to be albel to go to work and support their families.

How to keep kids occupied while waiting in airport NEXT WEEK?
09-19-2001 09:02 AM
I am planning on bringing Caitlyn a small arts and crafts kit. Beads to make necklaces (I will bring enough for other kids just in case she makes friends), I'll have my laptop for Disney movies (I ordered Snow White and Lil Mermaid at TDS a few weeks back), We will eat a sit down lunch in the airport (TGI Fridays), bring the kids Disney planner for them to look through, look through the airports gift shops! I think there will be a lot of stuff to do while waiting.... Just remember the terminal will be full of kids in the same situation.... take a deep breath and bring along tylenol for possible headache relief.
I wanna be childfree!

If you dont want children dont have any. I could only wish that some of the parents I am in contact with daily thought about the long term effects of raising a child. I have my DD Caitlyn who is 3... when my mother asked when I was going to make Caitlyn a big sister I replied NEVER. I love being a mommy... but I honestly dont think I could handle another child. There are so many children in the world that are here NOT because their parents wished to have them but simply because they were too careless to prevent an unwantd pregnancy. I have 2 coworkers right now that would KILL to have a child..... one couple has been married for 22 years and going through the adoption process. These are the kinds of people that should give chilren life.... not those of us that fear we are not able to take care of them.

After over 2 years I am FINALLY over 1000 posts. It just amazes me that some of the 'newbies' already have more than the Aug 99 folks!!
I just wanted to thank all of my DIS friends for the ongoing support you guys have given me.
Also... a brief update about my life.
My ex continues to NOT have solo visitation.
Caitlyn is making great progress with counseling.
Dan and I are VERY happy together.
I feel like I have a true family. Caitlyn calls Dan "Dan Daddy" now.

Come on guys... Remember what your mother taught you. "If you can't say something nice.... then don't say anything at all"
I have thought many times of adding certain people to my ignore list... BUT would never post that I had added someone. To me that is insulting and I would be terribly hurt if the shoe was on the other foot.

I just called the Disney Stpre to make sure the APs I ordered had come in.... They told me that for the next 3 days if you make a purchase of of $30 you get a $10 gift card free. No minimum purchase is required on the giftcard and it is good till January!! Call you store for details.
11-13-2001 04:49 PM
I'm headed that way as soon as I get off work. I will post again once I know more.
11-15-2001 12:41 PM
Hi,
I had called the Plano store (Collin Creek) on Tuesday and asked if they would give the cards with a purchase of an Annual Pass ( I had already ordered mine and they were wiating in the store to be picked up) The lady told me YES! I was so excited... as soon as I got off work I headed that way to get them... Well, the cashier didn't have enough of the cards and went to the back to get more. Then the assistant manager of the store came out and told me that I was misinformed and could not get the cards. SHe was VERY rude about it. I waited till the manager of the store got back from break and complained about her attitude. I didn't get the bonus giftcards but I did feel better after reporting the nasty attitude of the CM.

ARGH.... bad subject at my house. Last year Dan insisted that we get one.... I think we used it twice. Then I decided that we really needed a new coffee maker... Dan insisted we get a combo... That was more than 6 months ago, and we still haven't used the Espresso side
11-28-2001 08:37 AM What do you tell your SO?
No... I don't tell. Dan is the same way... if it's a secret, then we keep it!
11-28-2001 09:11 AM I guess I am just a scrooge
Your not a Scrooge!
I do not donate to the Red Cross, United Way, or any other big organizations.... I like to SEE where my money goes. I do little things all year round. I believe charity should begin in your own back yard.
Have you ever been to the grocery store and noticed a mother digging through her purse for 50 cents for the toy machine... Give the woman 2 quarters and make her day!
For back to school time I always adopt a family to sponsor... I get the kids new clothes and supplies. These are family's I find through a teacher I know... the families are too proud to ask for help, but will kiss the sky if someone knocks on their door.
A little girl you see in the park that doesn't have a good jacket on a cold day.... I keep Old Navy or Kidsrus store credit in my purse for these people. I usually tell the parent that I don't have any use for the card and ask if they would like to have it.
If ever having a garage sale at the end of the day whatever did not sell I load in the van and take to the bad side of town... I would rather give it to those that need it directly then worry about the small tax write off. Have you seen the prices at Good Will.... I can buy things new for that price!
I often find health and beauty products on sale.... and also have a coupon for. I pick up lots of extras and Dan and I take them to a woman's shelter. I do the same for baby clothes... pick them up during a great sale and send them to those that need them.
Do you know anyone that can't afford to take the kids to the movies. Go get gift certificates to a theatre and tell the parents that you aren't able to use them. They will be tickled to get to do something fun with the kids.
Adopt a child for Christmas and make this holiday magical for them. Better yet... adopt brothers and sisters, that way the gifts are even between the siblings.
I am not a religious person..... you don't have to be to do nice things.
11-28-2001 12:35 PM honestly!!!
Oh... I really hate to admit this. A few months back Dan went out and bought me 10 pairs of cute socks... some had frogs on them, others dogs, cats, stripes, stars, clouds, turtles, etc. It was really neat... he chuckled and said this way I always have to wear matching socks.
Oh, how wrong he was. I have gone to work with one green frog sock, and one white sock with a dog on it. My favorite combo last week was when I was wearing a blue/white striped sock on one foot.... and a moon/star sock on the other. I just told people that I was PATRIOTIC!
It's now an office joke to look at my socks They don't complain too much... I am always on time for work!
11-28-2001 12:40 PM I'm HERE!! Phones are down!!
Good to see that you guys are ok!!!!!!
11-28-2001 12:45 PM My OE Photo
HA HA HA HA HA... I can see it and YOOOOUUU can't!
It's very cute
Do You Say No???
11-28-2001 12:50 PM
I say no often.
I pay $150 a week for my DD's preschool.. then they tack on an extra 2 bucks a day for breakfast. THEN... We get letters to support the school further with fundraisers! No WAY! I would understand if it were a public school... but IMHO private schools are a buisness and if they can't make ends meet they need to close their doors.
NAKED WITCHES in Kansas???.........we don't mind them being in Salem, Mass.

Actually Texas is home of a number of nudist resorts I grew up at Ponderosa Nudist Resort in Wills Point Texas (about 60 miles east of Dallas)... I think it goes by the name of Brown Bobs hideaway now. I haven't been in about 7 years... since I was 15.
We might get a kitty for Christmas!!

My husband died while in Disney at the ASMovies, in our room. He died Sunday night Dec 9. They did an autopsy the following morning. It was a rupture of aneurysm. He did feel sharp back pain and throwed up some. He died instantly.
He was only 32. He was a very wonderful loving husband to me and a very wonderful loving father to our two kids DD 2 and DS 5. We will always love him and we will miss him.
12-18-2001 02:50 PM
I am so truely sorry! Words are not enough... I am crying a tear for you and will be thinking of you.
Welcome Back!!!
01-17-2002 02:17 PM
Goodness... I sure missed it here. I was just SURE they were giving away free Disney World vacations and no one was able to post and tell me all about it!
Princess costumes were 50% at my store yesterday!!
02-17-2002 10:16 AM
I got my DD a Minnie Mouse costume last night. Only 14.99 then I got an extra 10% off with my Disney Club card! great deal on the costumes.
02-18-2002 08:59 AM
We are going in March... And Caitlyn is going to wear her Minnie dress to dinner at Chef Mickeys! And as a mommy... I will smile and take a ton of pictures.

Thanks.... I just might try this. I have printed out offers in the past only to watch the expiration date pass.
Surely I'm not the only one....
03-07-2002 04:48 PM
Surely I'm not the only one that has convinced their 3 year old child that any where that serve "Homemade Roll" is really home cooking. I almost cried when all the Luby's in the area closed.. We ate home cooking twice a week back then.
Surely I'm not the only one that wears different socks on each foot.. sometimes a little different, sometimes a LOT!
Surely I'm not the only one that when dieting will stave during the day only to go home and have a OREO dinner.
Surely I'm not the only one that weighs themself before and after going potty. Strange unexplainable thing is I weigh more after.
Surely I'm not the only one that has used red fingernail polish to stop a run in pantyhose... not just once, but many times.
I guess it "pays" to marry a sick, very rich old man...
...just ask Anna Nicole Smith!
03-08-2002 10:10 AM
Hmm... I think it would take me $10 million to ever get married again.
Oh... and I also agree with Danacara
So I was talking to Janette recently...(Dallas Meet)
03-11-2002 04:00 PM
Oh Oh Oh.... Yes, a DFW Dis-meet is very much in order!
I am going to be at WDW March 30- April 6th... so I would imagine I will be too tuckered out to make it on the 7th. Plus past experience would dictate that I wouldn't have a clean thing in my closet to wear.
If it's the 21st or 28th.... We would love to come.
McDonalds Pass?
03-13-2002 09:12 AM
Yes, The McDOnalds that are using this are in the Chicago area. They are using the same Speedpass as ExxonMobil.
Here is a brief explanation
McDonald's® uses the ease of Speedpass with
TI-RFid tags
Following the success model that ExxonMobil pioneered with the use of TI-RFid's Speedpass technology, McDonald's customers can now use their Speedpass tags for purchases both inside the restaurant and at the drive-thru.
When a customer goes to the McDonald's drive-thru window, they simply order their food at the menu board, drive on to the payment window and point the keyring tag at the speedpass reader. The Golden Arches® light up to indicate that the tag is read. The system automatically bills purchases to the credit/ check card of the customer's choice.
Inside the McDonald's restaurant, the customer places an order and then points the tag at the reader next to the cash register. There are no extra fees when using this method of payment.
03-13-2002 09:14 AM
Oh.. And in Dallas Texas area they have started using a prepaid airport toll pass at a very few Mc Donalds.
I prefer the idea above because more people carry the Speedpass than airport toll tags.

03-20-2002 09:41 AM
Last year Dan made me watch Silence of the Lamb (FREAKED ME OUT).... then insisted we see Hannibal (Was very lame compared to SOL)
THEN... I got curious and wanted to rent MAN HUNTER.. Stupid stupid me. I am still terrified of that movie. It was about a sicko that kidnaps and starves plus sized women to eventually kill them and use their skin to make himself into a woman. I am a plus sized woman.. I have way too much skin to spare. FREAKY FREAKY movie!

We have one just around the corner from my office. TWICE already this week I have stopped in and gotten Caitlyn breakfast on the way to preschool. The first time was a pancake on a stick... YUCK, It's like a fried sausage stick covered in pancake batter. This morning we got the fruit taquitos.... Caitlyn really liked the blueberry ones, you can mix and match the flavors, we got 2 blueberry and an apple.

Wow! I'm glad I'm not the only one that doesn't have a life. My highest score is only 756 though. You did GREAT!
Is this unusual?
03-20-2002 04:59 PM
Not unusual at all now.
In my group when we interview the poor person has to go sit and talk with at least 10 people... then we bring them into the conference room and we all get to ask questions. If they make it through us THEN we send them to the big guy... if they make it past him it goes to the next level.
I always feel so sorry for those people... we hardly ever hire but interview OFTEN.

I am so sorry to hear about your father.
To be honest the story of your fathers death is like a fairytale ending for smokers! If I was promised such a peaceful death at the age of 77, I would start smoking today! I lost my NONsmoking father due to cancer at the age of 50 a few years back.... he did everything right and died a horrible death.

04-23-2002 02:24 PM
My daughter will be at the same preshool for the summer.
I pay $150 a week during the school year and $145 during the summer. They also hit us every six months with a registration fee and supply fee that adds another $600 a year on. Some days when I pull up to pick her up I can't think of the kind of car I would be driving if I didn't have kids... that extra $650 a month would sure come in handy.
The bad thing is that if the kids are under the age of 5 they can't go on field trips The have 20+ kids to one teacher that only makes $8 bucks an hour. Think of the money these places are making!

What Disney movie do you dislike that everyone loves??
09-17-2002 08:36 AM
I'm a whimp... I like most of the Disney movies, but have to fast forward through the scary parts. When Caitlyn was younger I would tell people that I didn't want her to be scared.... now when I try to fastforward she yells at me.
My least favorite is The Lion King.... just too sad and scary in some parts.
Other scary ones that I like but will not watch the scary parts....
The Little Mermaid... Ursula gives me the creeps.
Beauty and the Beast.. the fight at the castle. On a side note I think Beast looks better than the prince.

My DD is the last wave of little girls in the family... she is four now and I have second cousins that are yearly stair steps for 5 years before her. By the time we got to get the hand me downs most things had gone through 2-3 little girls.. I wouldn't have used some of the things as dish rags.
After I got used to buying all new stuff for Caitlyn my cousins started having baby girls again... so I hand all of Cait's stuff down. I don't buy anything unless it's on clearance... at least 75% off

Thank You for everyones support, prayers, and pixie dust!!
I thought I could prepare myself for it, but truthfully can not begin to expain the devastation I am feeling. I was expecting Dan to die of natural causes, he decided that he simply could not stand the pain any longer. Caitlyn was told that Dan Daddy was on his way to heaven and doesn't hurt anymore, she has wept on and off and is trying to be surprisingly strong. I am trying not to cry in front of her but it is becoming too hard to handle.
When my father passed away a few years ago Mom and I would think about him whenever we found a penny - usually the pennies would appear when we were feeling down and needed a little pick me up. Dan and I explained the idea behind the penny to Caitlyn and said that everytime she finds a penny that will mean that Dan Daddy is smiling down at us in heaven. Caitlyn seemed to find confort in thinking that in someway Dan could always reach her, she ran to her room and got her piggy bank to give to Dan... that way he would have lots and lots of pennies in heaven to use. Today after the medical examiner left with Dan's body Caitlyn and I went driving (I had no idea what I wanted to do or where we should go) Caitlyn wanted to stop and get something to drink. She found a penny on the way in to the gas station.. that was all she seemed to need. Caitlyn is at peace now knowing that Dan left her a penny. I wish I could be that easily calmed.
I am staying with Janette tonight, I don't think I would feel ok being anywhere... but at least here I don't have to explain the details over and over again. Caitlyn is staying with my Mom. I am trying to pull myself together so I can be strong for Caitlyn tomorrow.

Dan had wished to be cremated, I will uphold his request. Caitlyn will attend the memorial service that I believe will be either Wednesday or Thursday.. I am meeting with the funeral home today to sign some paperwork and set some plans. Not to go into graphic details but Caitlyn will not be permitted to see Dan before the cremation (Dan ended his life with a gun).

12-12-2002 10:57 AM
I was in a very important meeting today at work.. our admin come in and gets me saying there is an important phone call from my sisters school (she is 16). My mother permitted Jennifer to take her three foot long iguana to school today... Jen went to the bathroom and the lizard got out of her backpack and caused a great disruption in her class. The principle was less than amused and gave me 15 minutes to come pick up the lizard and Jennifer.... red faced I left and got the two of them and took them to my place. On the way back to work I called my mother (who is on her way to El Paso to see my aunt) I asked why in the world she world allow Jennifer to take a lizard to school... her comment "I don't see what the big deal is, she had it in her backpack! You should be glad I didn't let her get a snake"!.... then she started yelling at me.
Deep breath... Eventually logic will have to set in and she will call back and apologize. *maybe*
Hey.. anyone want to trade moms for the holidays.. Heck, I'll even throw in my Grandma!

Does your job give Christmas "bonuses?"

Am I the only woman that likes steak?
12-17-2002 02:47 PM
I enjoy dead brown cow.
This year I am sticking with my New Year's resolution!
12-17-2002 03:03 PM
Every year I swear I am going to lose weight... Well next year I really am. I am having gastric bypass on Thursday and should lose about 100 lbs by 2004!!!
What is your New Year's resolution this year??
Is there a song out there with your name as the title?
01-09-2003 04:33 PM
"Rocking Robin"
No
01-10-2003 12:00 PM
Shannon...
Try writing "No" on the palm of your hand.. If you can't say the word just show them your hand!
BTW... My palm usually reveals my grocery list. Right now it says "Milk, Bread, vitamins"
Did you have an imaginary friend growing up?
01-10-2003 12:47 PM
Caitlyn had "Ghosty"... she says the he is a Ghost that is funny = Ghosty.
I really like Ghosty... that have a lot of fun together, and I have convinced Caitlyn that Ghosty won't play with her if her room is a mess. Caitlyn also thinks that her nose really grows if she tells a lie.
How much is your milk?
01-10-2003 12:50 PM
About 2 bucks a gallon... that's for the store brand. I prefer Bordons or Braums... it's like $3.50 a gallon.
What's the strangest thing you've ever seen?
01-10-2003 12:54 PM
My grandma in the buff - enough said!
Anyone else dieting as part of a New Year's resolution & what diet are you doing?
01-15-2003 12:09 PM
I think I have taking the most dramitc approach.
I had gastric bypass surgey on Dec 16th and have lost 32 lbs so far. The normal human stomach is about the size of a football.. mine is a little larger than my thumb!
I feel great and have had NO complications what so ever!
Help Bring My Wife (CBRDec00) Back to the DIS! (Update)

I sent my plea... hopefully she will take the bait!
I have a confession to make...
01-20-2003 12:47 PM
I still have my tree up... and the lights are on most nights. My kid sister's iguana likes to climb the tree, it's in the corner and out of my way. It's an artificial tree... but when I take it down it's going directly to the dumpster... YUCK!
Help me catch a thief!
01-20-2003 01:13 PM
I would keep a very close eye on your daughter. If this is happening during school hours then one of her friends is skipping and using your house as a hide out. Are you sure your daughter doesn't leave the window unhatched so the snooper can camp out? I'm willing to bet your daughter knows exactly who it is and helps them to get in. Have you called your daughter's school to see if she had any absenses that you can't account for... excused or not?
When I was a teenager I used to hide out in my parents moterhome when I skipped... sometimes would let other kids set up camp in there too.
Not to push the issue... but you might thinking about doing random checks in your daughter's room at night. If she has friends that are into porn channels then you can not be too careful.
So........... what are you wearing today?
01-23-2003 10:45 AM
I am wearing straight leg black pants, a deep purple sweater, saphire earings and ring, black loafers, and ALWAYS mismatched socks... today they are both black but one is ribbed and the other is patchwork.
VENT! (short)
WHY IS IT THAT YOU HAVE TO HAVE A STUPID CARD AT THE GROCERY STORE?
AND
WHY DOES A SOFT DRINK AT A RESTAURANT COST $1.79?
01-23-2003 10:18 AM
This is just a pet peeve of mine. For YEARS Albertson advertised that they were a "No Card Needed" store... and then over night they require their store card. You really are not saving money... they jack up the prices and then offer a card price that is actually realistic. Don't people remember that even before store cards became out the stores still had sales... nothing has changed except that now we are required to give out personal information to shop as we have done for years.
On a side not - I hate Albertson's anyway. Things always ring up the wrong price at the register and always in the stores favor. Last week I was in there and bought 4 Red Barron pizzas that were clearly marked 4 for $10, each one rang up at $5 something... the cashier argued and said that I was crazy and bought the wrong ones. I told her to get me the manager and do a price check... I was right and they corrected the price. According to Albertson's Price Accuracy Guaranty I should have gotten the 1st item that scanned wrong free. The cashier said I would have to go to customer service to get a refund. Then I paid with a check.. I have a very Jewish last name.. The &*%$# cashier comments "Oh, I should have known you were Jewish"!!! That's when I lost it and started getting very angry and voiced my opinion how sorry their customer service was and became rather loud (I had been stuck in the check lane and customer service line for over 30 minutes because of the mistake) The manager comes out again and tells me to please leave the store and that she would rather me take my business elsewhere.
01-23-2003 03:28 PM
Marsha,
I called the corp. office on this Albertonson's a few months back because of a health issue. They had boneless/skinless chicken in regular ziplock bags sitting in the middle on an aisle on bed of ice.... some of the bags were open. YUCK.
The store manager called and said she was sorry but that they really don't cater to grocery shoppers... they are the last beer stop before you get to the next town which is dry and can't sell any beer/wine.
Does anyone have a favorite pork chop recipe?
01-24-2003 03:00 PM
My favorite is Parmesean Crusted Pork Chops.... super easy to make and always a pleaser.
Mix breadcrumbs (or crushed saltine crackers) with parmesean cheese usually 5 parts crums to 1 part cheese. Dash pepper to taste. Dredge pork chops into mix until well coated. Spray large pan (or cookie sheet with sides) with Pam or rub with butter and place the pork chops side by side.. Bake at 350 for about 45 minutes.
I always serve this with hashbrown casserole and a nice salad.
What age bracket do you come under?

20 - 29 for me.

Single Moms/Dads...I don't know how you do it!
01-29-2003 01:20 PM
When I first seperated from my first husband I was delighted to be a single parent... I knew that "I" could be a better parent then my ex and I were together.
Then I met my second husband and we were a family, everything was wonderful and it was incredible to have help.
Now that my second husband has passed I am a single parent all over again. This time is HARD... my DD is older now and realizes that I am doing the best job being two parents. Dan was the one that woke her up in the morning for school, he did her hair, he took her shopping, he made her meals, they had special ways of doing verything.... all these seem like little things until you miss one of them.
I get up everymorning and do what I know I need to do... it really is not an option.
Note to self.....
01-29-2003 01:35 PM
Note to self - Don't answer Grandma's phone calls / She just wants to go to the nudist camp.
Note to self - Stop DISing at work
Note to self - Makeup will not cover up the bags under your eyes, sleep is a must.
Note to self - Make an effort to wear matching socks everyday.
Note to self - Just because the boss gave you permission to book a flight does not mean you can go to Orlando.
Note to self- Find Caitlyn's hermit crab as soon as you go home, alive is preferred.
Note to self- You do not need any girl scout cookies.
Note to self- Do not spit on your hand and then rub Caitlyn's cheeks at school if she is a little messy.
Note to self- It is not cool to call a
I've separated them into 3 sections.

I finally caved in...I bid on EBAY. YIKES

You poor thing. I can't imagine trying to diet under those conditiond. I have spent the last 2 months complaining that my office encourages people to gain weight. We have a fantastic cafeteria in the bldg that serves breakfast, lunch and SNACKS...it's less than 2 minutes to walk there.

I know it was the first thing I thought of. There would be no way I could have gotten down all those stairs.

10-01-2001 12:15 Chocolate whipped cream in a can. YUMMY.
I went to the grocery store last night and found the most wonderful thing. Its by Redi-Whip... CHOCOLATE WHIPPED CREAM in a spray can.... it taste like soft serve icecream. I bought a package of strawberries to go with it and it was to die for.
SHEP... Being the you are a "Love Slave" to you DW, RUN and get this stuff!!
WOOHOO... I am finally part of the 1% club! Update on me!
10-02-2001 15:30
After over 2 years I am FINALLY over 1000 posts. It just amazes me that some of the 'newbies' already have more than the Aug 99 folks!!
I just wanted to thank all of my DIS friends for the ongoing support you guys have given me.
Also... a brief update about my life.
My ex continues to NOT have solo visitation.
Caitlyn is making great progress with counseling.
Dan and I are VERY happy together.
I feel like I have a true family. Caitlyn calls Dan "Dan Daddy" now.
I am feeling healthier this week... the MS isn't dragging me down
We will be at WDW in 59 days.. staying at the Dolphin.
I love my job!
10-17-2001 16:02 Ladies.... How often do you wash your hair?

Come on guys... Remember what your mother taught you. "If you can't say something nice.... then don't say anything at all"
I have thought many times of adding certain people to my ignore list... BUT would never post that I had added someone. To me that is insulting and I would be terribly hurt if the shoe was on the other foot.
11-02-2001 11:36 AM Cheap Gas!

No particular theme here either! We would be thrilled with what ever we get. Thanks Chris for all the work you have put into this project!
Caitlyn, Dan, and I are headed out to look for an ornament today... it's our first Christmas as a family so we are really enjoying it all.

11-13-2001 03:28 PM Get a $10 gift card with a $30 purchase at the Disney Store.
11-21-2001 01:33 PM Pooh paper doll for 1.00
Thanks... I'll go check out my Dollar Tree tonight I am looking for stuff to take on the plane... I went to Toysrus and spent a small fortune last night.
11-27-2001 01:40 PM Can I please have your immediant prayers and pixie dust!
Stay safe Beauty. Warm thoughts for all you guys.
11-27-2001 02:57 PM How often do you use your espresso machine?
ARGH.... bad subject at my house.

11-28-2001 04:33 PM
PLEASE... think about getting a kitty from the pound! It will save a kitties life.

$25 DisneyStore Gift Card w/ Test Drive

Movies that give you the willies....

I always feel so sorry for those people... we hardly ever hire but interview OFTEN.
got something cute at the bargain store today...
I found Bicycle Brand cards...you know the good ones!! But they are Disney.....

catsrule,
I am so sorry to hear about your father.

What Your Car Color Says About You
By DocRafiki
I know exactly what my car color says about me - I found a good used car at a cheap price, and the color happened to be gray.

I have the same color choice as DocRafiki- used and a good price.

The Little Mermaid... Ursula gives me the creeps.
Beauty and the Beast.. the fight at the castle. On a side note I think Beast looks better than the prince.

09-23-2002 02:16 PM

WHILE hopefully being discreet about it and not telling other DISers of your problems. I would hate for DIS CON to turn into the cool people VS the uncool people type of thing. I give blood at every drive they have at work. I look at donating blood like insurance. You pay a monthly fee to have a service available in case you might need it.... Giving blood is extra special, because you can share it with any one that might need it.
I am also an ORGAN DONER.... They can have whatever they need from me after I am gone.

*maybe*
