Hoping for advcie....I am in day two af a major headache...asprin tylenol not helping...On Monday, had last can (1) of Coke after many years of 3-4 cans a day...Only thing I can think of for reason for headache...any similar experinces or does this sound normal?

ooooo yeah,

I gave up coffee last year for lent--and the caffeine withdrawal headaches lasted for about 3 days. Nothing helped!! You'll be over them soon, though. Or--you can take excedrin to ease the pain (they have a little caffeine in them).

Good Luck

Sounds pretty normal. When I was pregnant and going off caffeine it was BRUTAL. You should be on the downslide now, and the headache *should* be going away soon.

Oh yeah! Caffiene is a drug. If you consume quite a bit of it, you will go through withdrawl.

Headache is a major symptom of caffiene withdrawl. Try Excedrin Migraine. It has some caffiene in it and it may help the headaches.

Sadly, nothing seems to help a caffeine-withdrawal headache; it just has to go away on its own. My doctor's office has even begun assuring patients that we CAN have black coffee on the day that we are fasting for blood testing.

You guys are the best. DH on way home now,,,stopping for Excederine Migrane...does caffine free soda help (sugar and all)

I agree! When I started Diet Center I was told DO NOT go off Caffeine all at one time. Limit yourself to 2 a day, then one, THEN go clean. It worked too! I now only have Diet Coke when we go out to eat so maybe twice a week. The rest of the time is water, water, water.

When my Dh went off caffine, he thought he had the flu. He had a major headache and he just hurt all over. After the first week, it goes away, in the meantime, good luck!

I hear you, yesterday I tried to limit myself...by 2:00 i had the worst headache imagineable.

I gave in and drank the Coke, it was gone in 10 minutes, lol.

FYI Exedrin Migraine contains more caffeine than a can of Coke

YES, normal! :teeth:

My mom HAS to have a 20oz Pepsi every morning (I think this is gross LOL). If she doesn't have one, she has a sick headache by like 10am....sad but true.

Why don't you just hit yourself in the head with a hammer to take your mind of it? :teeth:

Just kidding of course! Why don't you try the caffeine free soda. I'm sure it won't make things worse and it might just help.

But hang in there -- you're doing great and will stop having headaches very soon.

Keep Up The Good Work !!!

I gave up caff when the doc put me on hypertension meds. For a week or two, I thought the meds were giving me a headache....then I figured it out:blush:

Just a question: wouldn't taking a pill with caffeine defeat the purpose of giving up the Coke?

Oh yeah that is it. Killer head ache.

I had'm bad.

I hear heroin helps.

I've just gone through the same thing. The first day after I quit I already had a tension headache AND a sinus headache, and seriously considered just giving in...but then I decided I might as well get all the headaches over with at once!

And I did use Excedrin Migraine after that first day. I figured the caffeine I was getting from it at least wasn't from soda, so I wasn't continuing on in my bad soda drinking habit by taking it. It helped. And today I was sooooo drowsy at work (4yo DD was up with nightmares last night) that I broke down and got a regular caffeinated Caramel Macchioto at Starbucks at lunchtime.

My problem now is that I really don't care for plain water. There's only so much of it I can drink in a day. I really like Propel fitness water (flavored), but it's awfully expensive. I've been drinking Country Time lemonade, but it's high carb. I'm off nutrasweet along with the caffeine. Anybody have other suggestions for what to drink all day?

(BTW I've been half filling empty Propel bottles with water and freezing them, and then filling the other half with water or lemonade. I do like the plain water better ice cold than luke warm.)

Try something sweetened with Splenda--it is not as bad for you as Equal or Sweet-n-low and tastes more like sugar--and carb free. I make myself decaf tea w/splenda and put some lemon in it---DE-LI-Cious
