Cafe Orleans questions

The last time I ate at Cafe Orleans it was counter service (and had an awesome BBQ pork sandwhich.)

So....

Do you need a reservation to eat here?

Do you HAVE to order an entree?

I was just looking at the menu on allears.net and I basically want to order two starters (pommes frites and house salad) and a dessert. Would that be okay or no?

If I can do that, would they be willing to bring me the starters at the same time they bring my husbands entree?

Thanks!

Cafe Orleans is definitely a sit-down meal. I'm not sure if you have to order an entree or not! My son had the pulled BBQ pork sandwich from a walk-up in NOS at either the French Market or River Belle Terrace (can't remember which).......

The Pomme Fritas are very good!! So are the beignets!

I would suggest getting a reservation if going during the busy season.

I am sure there would be no problem and all you have to do is ask.

We'll be there the last week of September. Not sure if we'd need one for then on not. I'm kind of anti-reservation because we never know when we'll be in the mood to eat.

You do not have to keep the reservation, we make them in case it is busy.

The only place that sells the BBQ pork sandwich now is River Belle Terrace. :thumbsup2

You do not have to order an entree. I always order an appitizer and my husband usually gets a full entree and we never had a problem.

We ate there last week, and we had PS reservations, but there were tons of people who did not and they were able to get seating within about 15 minutes, so it is totally fine to not make them. The only time you might have to wait longer is at noon.

DD & I ate there this past weekend ~ our 1st time! I loved it. I ordered what you want, the salad *yum* and the Pommes Frites *yum yum* DD got the kids Mac 'n' Cheese, I wanted the beingets but the fryer wasn't working - I was so full anyway, I couldn't finish the PMs!

Your pork sandwich was from the nearby River Belle Terrace (which is counter service).

Do you need a reservation? Probably not. I've never seen a wait of more than 15 minutes for a party of 4 or less. OTOH, it certainly can't hurt to make a reservation.

You can order whatever you want. There are no minimum orders. As to the delivery schedule...well, they're batting far under a thousand on that one with me. Whether the appetizers are delivered before the meal or with the meal seems to have little relation to my request. Which is odd since they've asked me which I prefer every time I've ordered. Why do they ask if they just deliver whenever? I wanted my gumbo with the meal. Got it before. Wanted the onion soup before, got it with. They got the fries right. :) Fortunately, it's delicious regardless of the timing.

Thanks for all of the information, everyone! I really appreciate it.

The pork sandwich I was talking about was from Cafe Orleans before it changed to table service. (I tried the one at Riverbelle Terrace and I wasn't a fan.) The one from the old Cafe Orleans was so good. So was the pasta salad that came with it. I miss it!

Just in case, I would put the Disney Dining number into your cell phone (if you have one). I think it's 714-781-DINE. If there happens to be a long line when you arrive, you can probably phone and get a reservation for not very far in the future. (Like if it's a 30 minute wait, you may be able to get a reservation for 15-30 minutes later--kind of like a Fastpass for dining). I read about someone doing that and it sounded brilliant to me. :)

At WDW on our last trip we made a couple ADRs. Even with an ADR, we would have to wait for a while. Is it the same way at Disneyland? Or is it a true reservation?

This past weekend we had a ADR *I don't think that's the proper term @ DLR* for all of our TS meals, we didn't wait at all, it's possible to wait a wee bit though. At C O people walking up as we were checking in didn't wait long at all.

That's good. We were totally unimpressed with the ADR system at WDW. Kind of annoyed by it actually.

At DLR, they are called Priority Seatings (PS) and they are not true reservations. They just give you priority to those waiting in line for the next available table. With that said, I have never waited more than 10 minutes for a table (we were usually seated immediately even during peak seasons).

Last week, we decided at 11 am we wanted to eat there. We were able to get a PS for 11:30.

We didn't have to wait long at all after we checked in for any of our PS.

WDW used to call them Priority Seatings too....then they changed to ADR - advance dining reservation?

so now I know to call the PS at DLR...:goodvibes
