Hello everyone. :goodvibes We will be eating at Cafe Orleans, my DS's favorite restaurant, this Saturday for his 13th birthday. :cool1: I have seen pictures on the boards that some people have the Mickey Beignets served as a birthday treat. Can anyone explain to me how that works? Do I need to call ahead and arrange it? Can I just tell them when we arrive that it's his bday and request those at the end of the meal?

my daughter just told them at check in for my birthday last year and they brought them to me at the end of the meal but we ordered more also...they were very good mine had a candle in it also!!

I thought the birthday beignets were just for '09.

Even though they definitely were for last year, the birthday celebration year...our horrid server didn't bring any for me (birthday girl ON that day), and when I ordered beignets, charged us for them.

Bumber Im so sorry you missed out on the birthday one as it was solely mine and with the candle it was extra tasty LOL :) I was told this was a regular thing they did but could have been misinformation......I did get mine in Aug 09.

I got mine because the server saw my birthday button so he just brought it at the end of the meal. We didn't have to ask for it. This was also in O9 though so not sure about this year. If they still do this I don't think you can call ahead to arrange it. I think your best bet is to let your server know that you're celebrating DSs birthday and ask if they have any type of celebratory thing they will do. Maybe doing this in private, so it's like a secret from DS will seem more natural and polite? than just telling them you want free dessert. lol. Not sure if that made sense but i'm sure you know what i mean. :)

We got the free beignet last year as well without asking, but DP was wearing her Brithday button.

Love Cafe Orleans

When we were there in January of this year, our server saw DS's birthday Mickey ears and B-day button and brought out a birthday beignet with candle as PPs have had. Maybe it was overlap from the '09 ritual, but it was very nice. Every meal that day (Breakfast at Storyteller's, and dinner at PCH Grill), our server(s) brought out birthday deserts for DS (a colorful cupcake at Storyteller's, and a mini Mickey shaped chocolate cake at PCH grill). It was the first time we've celebrated a birthday at DLR, so I assumed it was something they do every day (others were also celebrating birthdays at Storyteller's and Cafe Orleans and they got the same birthday desert (CMs sang a song at Storyteller's and PCH Grill).

I'll just let the server know it's his birthday when we arrive, I guess. I didn't even know these were free! Like LavenderPeach said, I don't want to seem like I am asking for a freebie! :flower3: We were planning on ordering a regular order for the rest of the table anyhow, I just thought after seeing the photo that it would be a cute treat for his bday. :goodvibes Thanks for all the info all!

It doesn't hurt to mention it when you make a PS either with Disney Dining. I always have them note it on the reservation and we wear the B-day buttons. When we were there last October I received a free beignet as CO and a little Mickey chocolate cake at PCH Grill. :thumbsup2

I have picture of DH's in my sig. I told them it was his birthday when making the PS and he was wearing his birthday badge. Do both and see what happens. We were so full, we only split the one. This year, I'm just gonna get right to the good stuff and order the fries and beignets and skip everything else! :rotfl:
