My son is 10 and would prefer to order from the kids menu. Can he do this? Thanks!!

I don't think it will be a problem. My son was almost 14 on our trip the week before last (turned 14 last week) and he ordered from kid's menus all over the parks. If the adult menu had chicken nuggets he would order them. Otherwise, he'd get his chicken nuggets from the kid's menu.

Thanks! I hoped that would be the case. You know, I'm a huge fan and supporter of all things Disney. But, I guess of I had to come up with one pet peeve about them it would be the 9 and under rule for kids. Just because my kid turned 10, it's not like he woke up with a sophisticated palate all of a sudden. Nope, he still loves nuggets, burgers and hotdogs.

I had somone from my group order off the kids menu at cafe orleans and they were charged 15 bucks for a bowl of mac and cheese, the waitor said she had to pay the price of an "adult" meal even when ording off the kids menu, granted she was quite a bit older then 10, but it was still a bit upsetting when we got our bill.

Oh man! I can't see myself shelling out 15 bucks for a kids meal. I may have to call the dining line to confirm. Maybe it's just for adults and he's kind of in this limbo age category at Disney. :confused3

... wait, wait, ..... they charged more just because the person eating the same portion size as noted on the "kid's menu" is over the age of, oh let's say 9? WOW, that's insane. I don't always like the size of portions they serve on the regular menu and the child's meal is just the perfect size for a day of activity.

The person in our group was 26, so im sure they will be a bit more understanding of a 10 year old. Im sure you could always pass your son off as being 9 as well, Im pretty sure they wont be checking ID's;)

When we went in April my 11 year old son ordered off the kids menu at CO. The waitress said he could have the kids meal portion for the kids meal price or an "adult" portion for about twice that. He got the kids meal and shared some of my Monte Cristo, then we had room for dessert!

I'm guessing your 26 year old friend got the adult portion for the adult price.

I have a habit of clarifying what is being ordered and the price, With 6 of us I can not afford to be ssurprized. We never had a problem with kids pricing when we were there and in that age group.

Yeah, I was thinking I would just say he's nine since it's not a buffet. The problem is he's 5 feet tall and 100 pounds. :scared1:

My DD13 orders off kids menus regularly, they do NOT charge her adult prices when she does. We tell them there is "nothing on the adult menu she wants and she'd like to order off the kids menu" or we say nothing and she simply orders, it's never been a problem. At Cafe Orleans our server said "it's never a problem for her to do that, but just so you know if she's really hungry we can double the portion and the price for her so she gets more food" to which I happily replied "she's tiny, she will barely eat the kids meal, but that's good to know. Would I be able to do that?" to which she happily replied "of course, ANYone can order from the kids menu and if it's not enough older kids or adults can double the food for double the price". The only time we pay more is when we do a character meal, then the price is set for her age group. DD just turned 13 (need to update her age in my siggie) and she's tiny, very skinny little thing.
