Hi all,

We have lunch reservations at Cafe Orleans in late October. It was the only thing my teen requested because he's a HUGE fan of their pomme frites. I've heard the pomme frites are no longer served as a stand-alone item and you can only get them as a side to the monte cristo sandwich. Major bummer because we're not monte cristo fans 😕

Anyone that can confirm if this is true? Any chance of paying extra to add pomme frites as a side to one of their other entrees?

Thanks,

Fab

I also didn't see the Mint Julep on the menu. Can anyone confirm it's still available for ordering?

I was there late July and the Mint Julep wasn't on the menu but I was still able to order it.

They don't have the Mickey shaped Beignets, so we ordered them from the Mint Julep Bar before walking over to Cafe Orleans.

Thanks for asking this. I have reservations as well, thinking about the fries. Knowing we can’t just order some fries for my kiddos will mean we change plans. Really hoping they start being back more menu items soon

We heard you can also get free refills of the mint juleps at Cafe Orleans, is this true!?!

We went in late July. DD16, my wife and I all got the Monte Cristo Sandwiches with Pommes Frittes. DS14 got the Three-Cheese Monte Cristo with Pommes Frittes. DS12 got Mickey's Cheesy Macaroni.

We asked the server if they could add a side of Pommes Frittes for DS12 and they said no. Although the portion sizes were pretty decent and we gave him a lot of our Pommes Frittes and we still had some left over by the time we were done eating.

Yes, it's true. I wrote a pretty detailed breakdown of Cafe Orleans in my trip report below, if you wanted to check it out.

Although, here's the part I wrote about the Mint Juleps...

The New Orleans Mint Julep was great and loved that Café Orleans offered free refills, so we took advantage of that. Loved the mint and lime favor but I have to say by the time of my 3rd refill, I had this weird mint\lime lingering after effect with each sip that I didn't like and caused me to stop drinking it. I'd give that drink a 8/10 and would have been higher if not for that weird lingering taste I had after drinking a few of them.

WHAT????????????????????????????????????????????????
No Mickey Beignets????????????????????????

I totally missed that one. Cafe Orleans is always number one on our list for Disneyland meals. I'd seen about the Pomme Frites. We always order Pommes Frites for the table and always end the meal with Mickey Beignets. DH hates the Monte Cristo- but really likes those Pommes Frites-- I hadn't broken that news to him yet.

Weren't the beignets cold by the time you finished your meal?

Same with us! Always an order of pomme frites and always an order of beignets with their vanilla and raspberry dipping sauces 😍😋

This next Cafe Orleans visit may be our last for a while 😞

They took them out of their menu when they re-opened in April. You can read about the Cafe Orleans updated menu at this link below....

In late July, I also did not see the Beignets on the menu in the Disneyland app and spoke with the Cast Member when I checked in for our reservation who confirmed this. CM said it's a short walk over to the Mint Julep Bar to order the Beignets and I then showed them that I already did that.

Of course Beignets are best when piping hot but we did still enjoy them as is. As I wrote in my trip report, we ordered 6 Mickey shaped Beignets and for some reason got 2 bags with 12 Beignets total. I chalked that up to a bit of Disney Magic! :)

We ate 6 after our Cafe Orleans meal and we then saved the other 6 for breakfast, which went perfectly with my morning coffee before we headed to DCA.

Question if you remember - the mint julep bar price for the classic mint julep is $4.99 - guessing with free refills at cafe orleans that it’s pricier there, but do you remember how much it was when you ordered it? Like are we talking similar $5-6 range or like $8-9 - I know the beignets that used to be served at cafe orleans were like double the price that they are at mint julep bar - we’ll be there in two days and have a lunch reservation so trying to decide whether to try the drink there! Also curious if anyone has experience sharing entrees and whether there is a fee like there used to be for this as of a few years ago? Also curious about the monte cristo - have heard since reopening that it is much smaller portion, like only two pieces of sandwich now instead of 3 or 4?

I assume the Monte Cristo is the whole sandwich? That whole sandwich is wayyyyyyy too much food for my tummy, both in physical size and in amount of lactose (even with Lactaid pills ). I fear I may need to cancel my ressie for next week. Dang it.

Yeah, I will be skipping Cafe Orelans at my next trip. Odd that they took off these popular menu items. There's nothing on their menu I could eat right now anyway--wish they had a good plant based option there because I love eating outside at Cafe Orleans. I rarely eat dairy anymore, but I may have made an exception for those pomme frites or for beignets. Beignets really are not the same at the walkup. We will be going to Blue Bayou instead on this trip...if we could get a reservation :scared:
