Cafe Mickey - lunch or dinner?

Can't decide whether to book lunch or dinner. Am I right in thinking that lunch is calmer (less noisy!) but it's not as much fun with the characters? And the evening is more fun, with more characters messing about, but it's very loud and crazy?

And does anybody know what times the characters are there? I'm sure I've read things before where someone has said "oh you didn't see many characters because they finish at <whenever> o'clock..."

Thanks in advance!

I would always go for Dinner but probably only because I am reluctant to leave the Parks lol!

Seriously I love breakfast and dinner at Cafe Mickey - I think there is a fantastic buzz about the place and my kids always enjoy and every time we go to DLRP they ask if we can go to Cafe Mickey - we have booked a breakfast and a dinner for our next trip!

To be honest we have only once ever had a problem with not seeing many characters and that was because of where we were seated, usually there are lots of characters buzzing about whatever time we have booked for.

Hope you have great fun with whatever option you choose!

I'm another one who doesn't like leaving the parks at all once she's there, until the very end of the park day :goodvibes, so its dinner for me at Cafe Mickey - love it and I believe, from those have done both lunch and dinner, that there tends to be a more varied mix of characters at dinner.

The characters are at Cafe Mickey from noon to 2.45pm, then again from 6pm right through the evening until the restaurant closes.

Gosh, that's a GREAT point, about not having to leave the parks during the day. I can't believe I didn't think of that! Thank you so much.

So are the evenings *really* noisy there? I'm not sure my poor DH could cope with it :)

I'm another one who refuses to be torn away from the magic until the park gates are firmly closed...

People may have different views, but I've never really found Café Mickey to be overbearingly loud at dinner - and I eat here at least once on every trip (the big kid that I am pirate: )

Throughout the course of the evening though you can hear the excitement of children meeting the characters and people chatting away - but nothing majour... Oh, at various times during meals Aretha Franklin's "Freedom" song comes on and all the characters get on tables and dance... That could be constrewd as loud I guess?

But great fun! Honestly I have never found it too noisy and go at least once every trip!

Exactly!! I love when they do the dance, but it never interferes with a meal does it... I don't really remember it ever being too noisy in Café Mickey :confused3 Oh dear, now I'm wanting to book Café Mickey :rotfl2:

I've often described Cafe Mickey as being quieter at lunchtime but I mean it in terms of less guests dining there rather than the atmosphere. It's going to seem livelier at night because there are more guests there then but I don't think it's dull at lunchtime, there's still an upbeat atmosphere and there are cartoons playing.

On our last trip we ate there for lunch on our last day and I think the characters were just as much fun as they are in the evenings ~ in fact I think they actually spent more time with us as there weren't so many other guests to visit.

What time does the park shut the day you're thinking of going there? If it stays open until 10pm or later then you could go at lunchtime. If it shuts early then I'd opt for dinner so as to not waste valuable park time.

Enjoy ~ whenever you go! :)

We've only done it at lunchtime, both times on our last day as we were heading out. I think the atmosphere is great, but then I have nothing to compare it to. We saw 6 characters each time (in 2 sets of 3) - Mickey, Goofy, Pluto, Chip and Dale both times, Prince John in Feb and Eeyore in Dec. In December some of them came round twice (we were booked in at 12pm and were the first people in the restaurant).

Thanks, everyone. We are going the first week of March, so I think the parks shut at 6pm then?
