Cafe Mickey/Food problem(ish)

This will probably sound a bit mad but here it goes lol.... I'm wating to go to Cafe Mickey for my birthday (very belated) and I want the character dance thing But the problem is do you 'have' to order a full cake? Because DM doesnt eat cake and DG probably wont or would only have the smallest piece and I would only want a piece. Even if they boxed it up it wouldnt be worth it because the rest wouldnt be ate and would be a waste. And I was also hoping to ask them if they would serve a salad from the starter as a main because its massive and I cant manage 3 courses... i sound so fussy
So does anyone know if you could just order like a slice, I'm guessing they dont though. Other than that i'm not sure what to do. I wanted something a bit more special and i loved it at Cafe Mickey last time and I saw them come out and dance for someone else's birthday and it was great!
The Lucky Nugget Saloon doesnt do anything like this do they?

Dont think you can order a just a slice, i took mine home and ate when i got back as there was no way i could eat a full cake at once.

Yeah i was thinking of bringing it home, my dad can have some then too but i was told you werent allowed to bring that type of thing back in your case now. And i was also wondering about the size too for packing if you were allowed.

Unfortunatly you have to buy the whole cake. I wanted to do this for my Little Man, when I called them to make a booking I enquired about just having a slice (he is 16 months old so couldn't have a whole cake! Oh and yeah I know it's meant to be a birthday thing but he isn't old enough to know any different ) and they said that it was only availiable as a whole cake so I thought I'd give it a miss.

Yeah we are flying. I guess packing wise its a bit easier by Eurostar. It's really strict now for the planes.

talking of birthday cake the first time we took dd she actually celebrated her first birthday while we were there but we'd had a party for her the day before we went and rather than waste the gorgeous pink princess castle cake we'd bought her hubby decided to take it with us to have a bit in the departure lounge however hubby forgot to tell me his plans and it wasn't until we landed at CDG airport and her pushchair came off followed by a very large, squashed cake wrapped in cling film that he remembered to mention her cake !! we were somewhat embarrased whilst retrieving the squashed lump of cake but that was with Easyjet from Newcastle so if it's in your luggage you may be allowed

When we were there for lunch last month there were lots of birthday parties there all getting cakes.
Then one table had the characters go to them with a plate of desserts from the childrens buffet with a candle in and the characters all sang. This was for a child though so not sure if they would do it for an adult.

I just booked and paid for us all to have our evening meal in cafe mickey on the monday we go I think at 6ish, paid for the cake as well, I dont think £15 is bad for a cake, we wont eat alot of it i am buying it more for the fuss and attention it gets, it isnt my dd's birthday till 10 days afterwards but she isnt getting a party so she can be spoilt on our holiday.

I thought it was just liquids / pastes that were a problem, plus I thought even they were only a problem in luggage that you take into the hold with you?

Surely you could get away with putting a cake in a solid tin and putting it in your luggage, although you'd have to pack it well for it to survive in one piece.

Haha, not sure about that.

What you could try is baking a cake inside a metal tin, then don't remove it from the tin until you reach DLRP that way it should be fairly well stuck to the tin edges and should survive all the throwing that airlines like to do with everybody's cases

I just did a google search about restrictions, etc and you should be fine to take a cake with you ... it's just stuff like diary products and meat products, etc which they don't allow but as long as it's well packed say in a tin or tuppaware box you should be fine. at least it won't come out like a big, squashed lump on the conveyor belt

You should be ok with the cake... The problem is liquid/toothpaste/creams etc, even chocolates that contain alcohol need to be in special bags if bought at the duty free.

I flew back home last month. Had sandwiches for the girls in my hand luggage and noone said anything, all they did was asked me to try Anya's drink (baby cups are allowed but only if you have a sip). Kept the sandwiches in a plastic container and neither in London nor Vienna (had to change planes there) asked me about it.

To be honest with you, I don't think the security is that tight (Swiss security is a hell of a lot tighter)... They have to ask and that's all there's to it.

Cool, thank you! That's cleared a lot up for me. I'm not used to flying that much so i thought there were a lot of restrictions lol.
We still havent 'quite' decided about the cake but at least we know we could bring it back now. Thanks everyone!
