My fiancée and I have decided to try and do our best to not eat in "the usual old" restaurants on our trip to DLRP at New Year, so I've been looking at the DLP Food Guide to try and get some ideas and think the menu at Café Mickey looks pretty good.

However, we don't have any kids, so I'm just wondering is it worth the (apparent) extra expense to eat at a character/kids driven restaurant.

Having had a bad experience at Cafe Mickey's on Wednesday night, I would reccommend you eat mega early or mega late. I got PLuto's steak which was gorgeous but the mushrooms weren't much to rave about. Their birthday cake was fabulous however. But plenty people were there in couples and the characters go round every table.

Well thats good to know at least, would have felt funny if every other table had kids!

What was your bad experience exactly?

Hi we love Cafe Mickey, In July there was a table next to our with no kids and they had loads of attention from the characters, I would recommend going about 6 - 6.30pm.

I'd not be put off going on a character meal if the troops were not with us. Have fun :goodvibes

we went and we didnt have any kids with us, the characters change, we looked through the window the next day and some of the characters were diffferent, they come to every table, and its nice taking photos of eachother for those magical moments..Walts is a good palce to eat, you will need a reservation, saw no characters there.. and the food is.. to die for
enjoy yourselves!

We went to Cafe Mickey in March and there was a young couple sitting next to us who had as much attention from the characters as those with kids.
Goofy made a big fuss of the young lady, getting the young man out of his chair and taking his place, blowing kisses, etc. When Tigger saw all this happening, he joined in too. It was great fun. :goofy:
Looking around the restaurant, there were quite a few groups without kids.
I suppose it depends on if you get into the spirit of things and the characters pick up on that and will(well especially Goofy) respond to the crowd.
If you don't want them around, they seem to respect that too.

I wouldn't hesitate to go for a meal at Cafe Mickey without my kids but I don't think they'd let me get away with it :rolleyes1

I think I will still be having character meals even when I am an old lady hobbling in with my zimmer frame! :lmao:

Enjoy! :wizard: :wizard:

Denise and I dined in Cafe Mickey on Wednesday evening (8pm-10pm) and had a wonderful time - Denise's favourite ever DLRP dining experience in fact. We got lot of attention - pleny of photos and autographs! We had two lots of charactersduring our meal: Mickey, Goofy, Pluto, Genie, Minnie, Pinocchio, Gepetto, Sheriff of Nottingham, Tigger and Prince John. It's become a must do restaurant along with Blue Lagoon for us now. Food was fantastic too!

In our first trip to DLRP, we were dinning at Cafe Mickey. Just my DW and me, no kids.

We had a great time. All I can say is that DW was dancing with Pinocchio!!

Were you still there at 10pm when the birthday cakes came out?

We were and would you guys happen to be the table of about 10 who had a birthday cake brought out for a young boy who had just before walked to the table balancing a yogurt and some other bits in his bowl? If so, we were only about 3 meters away from you!

I am sure that if you do feel that you need some kids to enjoy a character meals that some parents wanting a quiet night would lend you a few.

:rolleyes1 Yep that would be us. A table of 12. Murray was determined to do things himself. He'd found the yoghurt drink and brought it back carefully. Does your wife have dark hair? I think she may have spoken to me when we were checking in at the restaurant. I sent her to push past dh and get her table. But it still took us 45 minutes to get our table. Shame we didn't realise or we could have said hi. Could have shared the cake out.

Murray with his cake and characters, Steve I believe you may be to the right handside of the sherriff who I gave my handbag too.

Yep - she has dark brown hair, she remembers takking to you. That must be where I recognise you guys frm, I knew I'd seen you somewhere on our trip. We may not have spoken but we joined in singing happy birthday to Murray - he had a nice time.

Some one has to say it

"Its a small world after all!!"

What lovely photos of Murray ~ I hope he had a great time. :goodvibes

He was a bit past it really. We should have booked for earlier but we'd decided to do 8pm as Murray had slept for 2 and a half hours in the park.

Just found this piccie of the kids. They were a bit bored by the time I took this. Andrew is at the back, Fraser, Lil Eilidh, Murray, Sarah and my Eilidh at the front looking like Damien
