A few months ago I had to cancel a trip. This was done online without any problems. Recently I was trying to book another vacation and my points are GONE. Disney says there is no record of my cancellation. Can anyone explain this. Did I do something wrong?

Ouch! I do always check online a couple days later to make sure my points are back in the account after a cancel transaction.

Do you have an email program that auto archives? If so you should have the cancel confirmation email. Without that you actually may be out of luck. What a horrible thing...

After you cancelled didn't your online acct. show the addition of those points? For example, I had 50 BWV points. Last week I cancelled a reservation worth 28 points and then my acct. immediately had 78 points. And you should have a cancellation number that you could use to follow up with MS. I hope everything works out for you. It had to be a terrible shock when you realized the points were not in your acct. I would feel a panic attack coming on.

My experience has always been the same as others...as soon as I cancel, the points show up in my account. I also always go to the upcoming vacations and make sure its gone.

Hopefully, you still have the email that shows it was canceled.

When I cancel reservations, the points go back immediately to my point balance. If it was less than 30 days, the points will show as holding points, but those are included in the whole total.

Is it possible you borrowed points from another year and they went back to a different year??

No that's not possible borrowed points can't go back.

I had a similar problem once but I noticed straight away and called DVC. The cancellation hadn't actually gone through so the points were still used but the booking had gone from my reservations. DVC cancelled it for me and sorted it out. Is it possible you actually still have the booking and they can cancel it for you?

Go into your online acct and look at your points history. It will have a record of everything that has happened to your points for the year - it shows when reservations are made and cancelled and the amount of points involved. It will at least give MS something to search for if an error was made.

I had a reservation cancelled by MS and the points disappeared from my acct. They said it was an IT glitch, and had to be researched. The points did eventually show up in my account - but it was weeks later.

I'm assuming the trip that you tried to cancel was for a time that has already passed? If so it sounds like something did go wrong although it's impossible to say what. In that case when you did not show up for the trip the points were forfeited.

When you cancel the system shows you a cancellation confirmation. If you wrote that down you should be able to work it out with MS. If you didn't then you can still try to work it out with MS but there's no guarantee they would help without some proof of the cancellation.

We have had several IT issues with our accounts. It pays to keep an off line accounting of your accounts and to double check your points and reservations after each transaction.

I second this idea. In your points statement, the original booking of the res should show the points being taken.
From there, the res was either cancelled or not. If it was cancelled, the statement should show the points coming back, and then the statement wouldn't agree with your points balance. CMs can see cancelled reservations that aren't more than 6 months or a year old from travel dates.

If the res was never successfully cancelled, the points would be forfeited as a no show.

Did you accept the terms and conditions and proceed to a cancellation number when canceling?

Good luck. Let us know the outcome.
