Hi There,

I was hoping that some of you may provide information in regards to Cable Beach, Nassau.

What are your thoughts, experiences, recommendations..etc..

Did you go to the Radission Hotel or Hilton? Or did you simply ask the taxi driver to take you to Cable Beach?

Is there many peddlers on the beach?

How is it for young children? What did you do for lunch?

Any information , reviews, thoughts I would appreciate it!!

Thanking you in advance
Viviam

I LOVE CABLE BEACH. We went to the Crystal Palace. The cab drivers at the doc took us there for $5.00 p.p. and we spent the whole day there, FREE. The pool has a swim up bar and a big waterslide, there are plenty of loungers under tiki huts for shades, motorized watersports (for a small fee) and about 10 restaurants on property. We packed sandwiches from room service though. My brother played around in the casino while I stayed on the beach with the kids and his wife. Our kids LOVED it. I have a DD 9, DD7, DS2 and my neice was 1. It was so much fun. We rode banana boats, played in the ocean, swam, bought Pina Coladas right out of the coconuts on the beach........I can't believe so many people opt to stay on the boat. We had almost as much fun here as Castaway Cay. It's a must. And free! There were only a few peddlers on the beach, not many at all. The hotels do a good job of chasing them. The Raddison, I believe, does not allow cruise guests to use their facilities (although nobody is actually wristbanded or anything ) but the Crystal Palace does. They are connected though. The Crystal Palace has a better pool anyway, but they do charge a rental fee for towels if you not a hotel guest, so bring your own. Have a great time!

Try the British Colonial Hilton in Nassau-we LOVED it in August. Its a short walk from the pier. Day passes are $10 adults/$5 kids.
The grounds were lovely and the beach was immaculate. Water was nice and warm, but calm for teh kids to swim. There's also a pool and outdoor restaurant/bar. Best of all its not crowded.

Stayed at the Radisson 5 years ago and was not impressed. Walked over to he Marriott next door on that trip also and was unimpressed. It seemed run down, but maybe by now they've refurbed it.

This is where I intend to take my kids to. I have a few questions:

How long is the walk from the pier? Is it safe to walk there?
How did you find out the cost of a day pass?

Thanks.

Reyberal - you said you went to crystal palace, which is the casino, correct?
What hotel were you at with that allowed cruise guests (you said Radisson did not)..

we are planning on doing this next month.. but have been trying to figure out the best hotel that would allow us to use their facilties for free.. thanks!

Hilton is a 5 minute or less walk through the shopping district. It is a safe walk. You can see it from the ship.

Found out about daypass rates on cruisecritic.com. Interestingly, the desk clerk was unfamiliar with the day rates so that's what he charged us. If you were so inclined you might be able to just walk on to the beach. hope you like it!

Are jet ski rentals available at Cable Beach, or does anyone know of a good place to rent jet skis or take a jet ski tour?
Thanks.

I haven't been to Crystal Palace, but understand that it is a taxi ride ($5 a head, from what I've read) or a $1 bus ride.
