I have reserved stateroom 6056 on the Wonder. Looking at the desk plans I see that it's right by the mid-ship stairs & elevators. Would it be better to get a stateroom down the hall a bit? Is there a lot of noise and traffic that you can hear/feel in this area?

Anyone ever stay in 6056?

Thanks,

Al :D

No elevator or stairway noise is heard.

We were on deck 7 right by the elevators and stairs and were not bothered AT ALL. As a matter of fact, we will request the same location next time as it was sooo convenient. I thought we might get a lot of foot traffic but we never heard any noise at all. Great location!

The secret porthole rooms, which we have been in multiple times, are pretty close to the elevators, and we have also been right near them on a higher deck. Both times, we never noticed any extra noise at all (and I am VERY picky about hallway noise).

That's good to know. I was a little worried myself. We will be in cabin 2616 (Wonder) which is right at the elevators and I am picky about noise too.

We are going to be in 6560, which is pretty much IN the midship elevator lobby. I have heard it shouldn't be too noisy. Dave's website www.dcltribute.com has a list of noisy rooms and also in the FAQ's it says elevators/stairs don't cause a problem. Sure hope we're not the exception! :)

We were only 2 doors away from the forward elevators and stairs and never heard a thing!

We are going to be in cabin 6076 on the "Wonder", so I am glad to see some of these posts.:D

We were one door down from the 7 forward elevators - 7020 on the Wonder - never heard a thing. The soundproofing is wonderful on board - the first night I came back after a little shopping and as I was putting my KTTW card in the door, I noticed vaguely that it sounded like a baby was crying somewhere, very far off, maybe mid-ship I thought. I opened the door and it was my own toddler screaming at the top of her lungs - I literally could BARELY hear her through the door. The only noises we ever heard were if we we on the verandah we could sometimes hear music or parties on deck 9, and sometimes there were ship noises like when we were coming into port and stuff. Never heard any outside people noise when our stateroom was closed up.

We were also right at the elevators in 6558 (first cabin as you leave the elevator lobby. This was two weeks agao when it the ship was very crowded. We did not hear a thing. Actually prefer this location for the easy access to the stairs.

We were in 8032, directly across from the mid-ship lifts. We never heard any noise from the hallway, let alone the lifts. Being able to walk out our room and directly go up or down the stairs was great. We would request the same again in the future.

We stayed in rooms 8030 and 8535 on our 2 previous cruises. Both of these rooms were right next to the midship elevators. We did not hear any noise from the elevators and the location was terrific (very convenient to the other decks via the stairs or elevator). We are back in 8030 in only 29 more days. Can't wait !!

We were in cabin 6111, a lot closer to the aft than midship elevators, but we used both quite a bit..there was not one issue about noise. what I noticed is that deck 6 isn't a deck with a whole lot going on (basically just cabins, nothing else) so really the only people on that deck were the ones staying there. and quite often, I never saw anyone else in the halls except room attendants!!

Barb - glad to hear the spr rooms arent too noisy with the elevators and the lab being close by.
Im just so darn happy that we are up on the 5th deck (instead of the originally reserved 2nd deck) that I would wear ear plugs if necessary.
This is going to be soooooo much easier with DS10
