I've been hearing so much about Deck 2. It seems as if people either love or hate it. I'm concerned about all the noise mentioned.

Has anyone stayed in these cabins. They look like they are across the hall from something, but not sure what. Are they particularly noisy ones?

I recently booked 2 adjoining cabins (2571 & 2573) on the 5/10/03 Magic. I relied on Dave's dcltribute site for my cabin selection (from what were still available). He listed many deck 2 cabins to avoid. You should check it out.

Good luck.

Darn...it looks like we have noisy ones. I may have to rethink an upgrade here. :(

We stayed on deck two on our first cruise (3 day on the wonder) and had no problems at all. No noise, no odors, nothing. We liked it so much that we booked deck two again for our upcoming 7 day cruise on the Magic.

The only "drawback" (if it can be called that) to a deck two room is that you are close to the water. Whenever we looked out the porthole, we would see the whitecaps of the wake rushing by. It caused a bit of vertigo to both me and my wife. We decided this year we just won't look!:)

No problem there, Randy...we have inside rooms! Even tho it gave you some vertigo, I bet it would be neat to see the waves splashing by your window!

Why don't you see if there are some cat 10's available up on deck 7? That's where we are staying and we really loved the location (it's all the way at the front of the ship). There are a limited number up there but we still had our choice of room when we booked, so you might look into it. We had an outside cabin in the same area and absolutely loved it, it was SOOOOOOOOO quiet!

I think I'm gonna do just that, Lisa. Good idea! Thanks! :)

This is too freaky, I just responded to you on another thread about the website to find staterooms available. We have the very same rooms you have for our cruise! (They are near a hatch that I was told by DCL is used for loading/unloading luggage.) After reading these posts and seeing Dave's List, just like you, I went to the web looking for other rooms, perhaps even upgrading. The problem with that is trying to find "connecting" rooms. We got the last cat. 10 connectors available, months ago! I hope you have better luck than I'm having! If we can't move, I won't let it ruin my vacation. Also, after looking at Dave's list and physically marking each stateroom on the pull-out from the cruisebook for when I call dcl and pester them again (and again and again), I realized that there are a lot of rooms on that list. Trying to avoid those rooms at this point for me seems like a huge challenge! Also, taking into consideration that there are so many rooms listed, I can't imagine that the noise could be that bad, I have not seen that many complaints about noise on these posts. So where are the complainees if the rooms are in fact too noisy??? It looks at this point like we will probably be staying in those rooms in September. I always want everything to be perfect, so I think knowing in advance that there may be noise will ward off the disappointment for me, but I realize that you will be honeymooning. I really can't justify the additional expense to go up to a veranda cat. which I what I would need to get connectors (the few rooms available for cat. 9 are on Dave's list).

In case you can not find other rooms, maybe this will offer you some comfort. I stayed in 2013 and was not bothered at all by noise. There was slight humming noise night 1 that I never heard again. Although 2013 is not on the noisy list, the room on the flipside of it, 2513, is. I should also note that I live in a very rural area and can't handle the noise of the suburbs never mind the city. If I am disturbed by noise at night it is typically a duck quacking or frog croaking that is the culprit. Having noted that, I had *no problem* sleeping on board, I found that the darkness of the inside cabin coupled with the slight motion of the ship and the pleasant weariness from the sun and fun of a wonderful day, lent to a very easy passage into a most wonderful night's sleep. The best sleep I've ever had in my life in fact (better than that in rural Rhode Island)! So I have resolved that if I can't change rooms, and even if there is some noise, I know that I am still going to be lulled into a very pleasant evening's sleep, and I am still going to have a wonderful time on the cruise.

Good luck on your quest! I may be able to tell you after my cruise just how noisy those cabins were...or weren't, if you remain booked in those staterooms.

Ali

I'll look forward to hearing what you think after your cruise. The rooms are actually for our kids...we are upstairs! :smooth: It sounds like this spot may only be noisy on the first day and last day if it's for luggage. That's not too bad, I guess.

I checked all those sites for other rooms...they ALL show the same ones! They're all Deck 2, and no connectors. Guess we're stuck unless we upgrade the kids. We'll see.

I will call DCL and pester them again, but I am not optimisitic. If you haven't tried calling DCL directly, give it a try, you never know unless you ask the source. But, the need for "connectors" really limits us. I will be happy to let you know about the rooms when we return. If you would like, you can put me in your planner for an email Sept. 15th. Email me at the address below and I will be happy to fill you in.

Don't sweat the small stuff, you have too much to look forward too!

I wanted to reply because we are also booked for room 2637. I noticed it was on the BAD list and immediately called DCL and there was nothing they could do. They said the ship was completely booked. I explained my fear of noise and 2 different DCL members told me that I would have nothing to worry about . They had both been on this cruise on this deck and had no complaints. This is our first Disney cruise and since we live in Florida received a Florida Resident Discount. We got a great deal and I'm going to cruise and hope for no noise. Since we cruise June 30th I'll let you know how it goes. Wish us luck!

Kwagge, I will look forward to your post! Can you also kindly fill us in when you post as to the mysterious room/hatch that I was told by Disney was a luggage hatch. Thanks!

Kwagge...I look forward to hearing about what you thought about the cabins, also!

Ali...I put you on my calendar. Hopefully, all will be well! I had the same problem as you because I wanted connecting cabins. Oh, well, there will still be extra money for the kids to go on excursions and stuff...so they won't be in their rooms often! :D

I 'd be more than happy to let you both know if we have any noise trouble. Only 8 more days! We are going to stay the night before at the Radisson. Can't wait.

I'm on deck 2, but not on Dave's list. I bought some ear plugs at Walmart just in case, b/c I'm not going to let a little noise at night ruin my magical cruise.

kwagge,

Have an awesome cruise (on my birthday)! Staying the night before does take the edge off. Hope you have a safe journey and a terrific time.

Keep my room clean! -- just kidding :-)

We are also booked in these two rooms! We will be sailing on 10/6. Please do let me know how you like these rooms and if they are noisy. Have a great time!!!

Just wanted to warn everyone about these cabins. AliPom described her recent unpleasant experience with themhere. :( :(

So, you might want to change your cabin if possible. If your ship is all booked up, I'd suggest that you keep checking. Given the current economy, there may be many cancellations right before the start of the penalty period (60 days before departure). Good luck!
