Cabin upgrade

Hello All DC!
This is my first post as this will be our first cruise. We are taking our 3 yr old granddaughter on the 4 night Bahamas on the wonder 05/02/10. My first question is the guy who booked us at the travel place said not to upgrade so we just went with the cheapest level 12, he told us we could go to guest services as soon as we board and see if they will give us a free upgrade if they are not all booked. Does anyone have some advice on this subject? and will we be sorry we took this level? He acted like we will be so busy we will just sleep and shower in it.
My next question is when we get to Nassau should we go visit the big hotel in Paradise Island? Any pointers for us would be much appreciated.
Does any one know if the weather should be good at this time? Will we need sweater or?

The Atlantis aquarium tour will be nice for your grandchild. We priced it out seperatly w/o Disney and it was close to Disney's price. You will probably get an upgrade but do not count on a window. At the port you may also be able to upgrade for a fee.

Even in May, absolutely bring a sweater or light jacket with you. The restaurants and theaters can be a bit cool in the evening and you'll be glad to have something to throw over your shoulders.

DCL will probably upgrade you before you get to the port. It helps them fill the boat that way.

For Atlantis, if you go, do not bring a stroller on the outside walking tour. There are steps everywhere. They are okay walking to Atlantis (hard getting them on the ferry boat), okay walking in the aquarium area, and walking back. Just do not go outside.
