Cabin suggestions?

We are thinking about booking a 4 day cruise. There will be 5 of us - 4 adults and a 2 year old (myself, husband, adult son and daughter in law and 2 year old granddaughter). We don't spend much time in the cabin so want to cram ourselves in the same cabin and save some money. Any cabin suggestions for 5 of us on the Dream?

Thanks :)

Well an 8A will have 2 portholes and 2 TV's but only one full bathroom. Not sure if they sleep 5 or not as the category 8 goes from 3-5 people depending on the cabin.

I would price out two insides or oceanview rooms as sometimes they can be cheaper than one Verandah room.

We always cruise in 2 insides instead of 1 verandah for me, wife and 2 teens, having 2 bathrooms and a little extra space helps a lot. Just my $.02

Cannot recommend these 8As highly enough. They are so spacious. BUT I believe all of the regular 8A rooms sleep 3-4, not 5. I am not sure about the HA ones, but those should only be booked if needed.

ETA: Not all the 8As have two TVs like the PP said. Ours only had one TV. I think just the ones with a wall have two TVs.

I haven't been on the new ships, I guess I took my info from someone else that said that the 8A's had 2 TV's. I will change that on my information so I don't make that mistake again.

arent they also missing the tub?

Only certain rooms are missing the tub due to configuration of the room.

We typically book 2 rooms from category 8A and usually connecting on Deck 5 that only allow 3 people max per room. However, on our next cruise...we could not book the connecting rooms because we will soon have 7 people in our group, but we did book the rooms right next to each other.

Side note: some of these rooms do not have the shower/toilet split...

I agree I have seen many instances where two inside cabins (connecting or not) was a couple hundred dollars cheaper than one large room that fits five. However, some cat 8's do fit five but those tend to go very quickly. I would call in to DCL and ask about options and compare.

We had a 4A, so the biggest before you go concierge. Even with the couch still a couch since our 2 year old slept in the crib, it was still a tight squeeze for the four of us.

The deluxe family oceanview staterooms sleep five and are 299 sf including the verandah. We stayed in one with two adults and three kids 14 and under. We had a queen bed and three twins (sofa, pull down from ceiling and murphy bed). It was a tight fit but we were not miserable. I don't think I would have enjoyed it with two adults in place of two kids, though. We have two adjoining deluxe oceanview cabins that sleep 3-4 booked for our next cruise. To me it is worth the extra cost to have more space and two bathrooms even if we aren't in our cabins a whole lot. I think there are options for two cabins that will be close to the cost of everyone in one cabin, maybe even less if you don't mind not having a verandah for at least one cabin.
