We are making our 1st trip to WDW this December  & staying in the cabins @ FW. I do have a few questions about the cabins. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This may be a stupid ? but do we have to bring our own sheets?

Is there a bath tub or just a shower?

We are renting a golf cart-do we need to bring a extension cord to plug the cart in to the electricity & are there outside outlets on the cabins?

That's all I can think of for now. Thanks again!!!

Angie

The cabins are basically individual hotel rooms so sheets are provided and you get daily housekeeping. Unless you have requested a roll-in accessible cabin, you will have the tub/shower combo (Allears FW Photos - scroll down for Interior Photos).

There are plugs in the small driveway that the golf carts plug into. I have found it best to back up to these so there is no need for an extension cord for the carts. I do tend to bring a surge protector type extension cord in case it is needed for plugging multiple things in to charge.

Thanks for the link. I have been on that website before but never found the pictures. Awesome. My daughter hates showers so now I know to bring bubble bath along!!!

Thanks again!!

Angie

You also have a electrical outlet on the deck that you can plug outside decorations into.:thumbsup2

It's been a while since I looked at the official DW cabin site but here it is:

http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/resorts/cabins-at-fort-wilderness-resort/

Click the "Rooms" tab and you can run through a couple pictures. The last one is 360-degree with tilt control too. Nice interior shots. (No picture of the tub but trust us, it's there).

PS - 2012 rack rates range from $285-$450 per night. Wowza. I remember back in 04 I got a cabin for about $150 with a discount of some type. Then I got my camper and never went back to the cabins.

Here's a tip...bring your own pan to cook in. The ones in the cabin tend to stick and I would definitely bring paper plates and disposable cups and utensils.

Thanks, everyone!! :goodvibes

I had better start my list. I am glad we are driving now!!

Let me chime in ...
-Bring 3m hangers. I put them on the wall right when you come in. We hang lanyards and towels there.
-Solar lights, for the golf cart.
-extra hangers to hang clothes.
-if you plan on using the grill, bring a good utensil for flippin burgers.

I looked at the closets & they look very small. I didn't see any dressers-are the closets the only storage space? There are only 3 of us but my DD has a few puffy princess dresses & they will take up some room. I guess are unmentionables :rotfl: can stay in the suitcases & we can just hang up our shirts?!! I also plan on bringing our winter coats just in case & they are pretty balky.

I only plan on making breakfast in the cabin. I think my griddle would do the trick. Is there one in the kitchen? I don't remember seeing one on the list.

Thanks for all the advise. Any thing else any one can think of would be great!!!

Angie

The closet is small but should work for you. There is a three drawers in a cabinet about 30 inches wide by 36 inches high in the bedroom.
You will find a large fry pan in the kitchen which is not nonstick so you have to use a lot of grease or butter so your eggs don't stick.
Have fun you will love:love: the cabins and the Fort , I know we do.

You will have plenty of room with only three people. There is a night stand, dresser, and over in the family room area there are two cabinets that are completely empty. I like to hang stuff up so I don't look like a total wrinkle bomb!!

Did you say when you are coming to the fort?

Thanks for the post. Now I see the extra drawer space.

Did you say when you are coming to the fort?

I didn't- we will be there 12/9 to 12/17/11. Getting so excited!!! :woohoo:

Thanks everyone!!

Angie

We will over lap!!! We will be there on the 14th to the 21st.

What kinds of plans have you made?? (says the A type personality)

Oh my gosh!! I have been planning since early April of this year!!! I have been reading anything I can about WDW & I was so overwhelmed at first & almost decided not to go. But I am not the quitting type so I buckled down & got to planning this thing!! I made my ADR's @ 180 days out & I changed my ressie numerous times. We were going to bring a RV down (my DH works for a RV dealer & can get them for free) but I really don't think that they are that comfy, so we went with the cabins instead. I know more $, but totally worth if for us!! The Fort was a no brainer for us. Hate hotels!!

We r doing Epcot 2 days, MK 2 days, and AK & HS 1 day with a break day in between. Yes, I even have touring plans all ready to go. I just looked over all the rides/attr/shows & picked what we would like & went from there. I though it would be easier than just showing up @ the park looking at the map & running all over the place.

So on Wed 12/14 is our break day. Going to DTD & then campfire that night. Thur 12/15 we r going to Ak & Fri 12/16 we r going to HS.

BTW, my hubby thinks all this planning is nuts just to go to an amusement park. SO who do you think will be right, me or him??? I assume you also plan??

Thanks,

Angie

You betcha. I always plan every detail. Is this your first time?

I am also a touringplans.com girl. That is how I pick what week we are going to go. I have started a pretrip report on this forum. You will see how anal I can be!! However, I must confess, we sometimes don't do what I planned. And that is what makes the trip fun. ;)

What are your ADR's? I am still trying to get Ohana's.But that is what I get for planing three months out.

This is our 1st trip!! I have always wanted to go to WDW but never made it till now. Our daughter is 7 so most of our ADR's are planned around her. Let's see-I have Askerus, CRT, Crystal Palace, Tusker House, Hollywood & Vine, 1900 Park Fare, & T-Rex.

For me & the hubby I went with Biergarden, Wispering Canyon, & Hoop De Doo & Mama Melrose Fantasmic Package. I would love to have O'Hana's-I actually had an ADR for a dinner show early on but cancelled it bc I couldn't fit it in anywhere. Also my daughter is not a Lilo & Stitch fan. There's always next time I guess. She is such a picky eater!!!

Speaking of ADR's, do you absolutely need one for Trails End? We are arriving in the evening on 12/9 & I didn't make one bc i'm not sure what time??

I know if i ever go again, I will gear the ADR's more toward my & Hubby's tastes, but I thought this was better for my daughter.

Thanks & i hope you get what you're looking for!!

Angie

I have never had to make reservations at Trails End. But we tend to eat really early.

Nice reservations.

Do you have the Unofficial Guide. It was my life saver.

Angie...WAY over planned for me. We have never gotten ADR's. That takes most sponanaiety out of a trip. You have to be somewhere at a certain time, so you can't linger in a park or around a show for longer. Gotta get to the meal. And with a child... "I wanna see the characters". "No, We're going to eat now."

But maybe that's just our family's laid back vacation. Spur of the moment. pirate:

But enjoy anyway.:woohoo:

Five of us went to trail's End at about 6 PM on Saturday before Halloween, without ressies. There was a crowd, and they said 45 minute wait, but they took us in 25 minutes. We've even walked in there on Thanksgiving.
