We stayed here back in December of 2006. We LOVED being in Ft Wilderness but our cabin was a little worn. There was so much dust up on the beams I had to take meds in order to breathe. We just booked again for next Christmas. If some are newer than other I'd love to know what loop they are in so we can request it. Thanks. :goodvibes

I believe they have all been refurbished since last you were there. We leave Saturday for our first stay at the cabins and are really looking forward to it.

I sure hope so. That would be great! Will you take some interior pics of your room for me? I'd really appreciate it. I enjoyed staying there but the kitchen especially seemed to be in rough shape. The fridge was kicked in and some parts of the kitchen looked like it'd been through a disaster. :rotfl2:

They were recently refurbished, also WDW does a "special cleaning" if you note in your ressie that you have a medical condition requiring it, specifically mention dust and the beams and any other problem areas you can remember.

OMG thanks for that info. Me and my oldest son both have allergies. I will be making a note. I can't wait to see some of the refurb pics. Any idea where I might find some?

We just returned yesterday from our first stay in a cabin at FW, and while we really, REALLY loved the cabin, and would stay there again in a heartbeat, we did notice some wear and tear. Peeling paint, dinged dishwasher, cabinet doors falling off of hinges, unadjustable showerhead. But these were minor in our book, the cabin was well worth our money, and (most importantly in my book) very, very clean. Certainly no dust lying on beams.

great to har you had a good experience... I am starting to get excited for our first cabin trip too

We really enjoyed staying there too. It was a whole different kind of Disney trip! More fun and laid back. I am wondering though...if they were just refurbed the hinges shouldn't be falling off!? I wonder if they're in the midst of doing a refurb? :confused3 I hope someone can post some recent 2009 pics...Anyone?

We just got back on Saturday from our first stay at the cabins. We loved staying at FW ... but I must say that our cabin was certainly not refurbished. We found it very dirty - lots of dust (on beams, beside the fridge, behind the murphy bed etc.), food crumbs under the pillows on the couch, dirty floor (the kids socks were black after a few trips from the bedroom to kitchen), the kitchen was dirty ... Also our Mousekeeping service was not the best - we did not get our sheets changed (despite our stay being 6 nights), we had to ask for soap and a sponge after they had been removed one day, and many days the few dishes we left were not done ... we always loaded the dishwasher in the morning and had things pretty neat and tidy so it was disappointing that the coffee maker wasn't cleaned! This cabin certainly needs some TLC ... The screen on the one window did not fit properly, so we could not leave the windows open without getting lots of bugs. Also one of the front windows had some white "scum" on it - it almost looked like the window had been egged ... this window was very cloudy and we could not see out of it. We all found ourselves very stuffy in the morning - especially my sister who has bad allergies! In hindsight I should have put in a complaint to the front desk ... Despite this I would consider staying at FW again - but I would make a special request to have the cabin get a "special" cleaning before our stay. Based on our experience I would be very suprised if the cabins have been refurbished! Our cabin looked exactly like the photos that have been posted on other parts of the discussion board.
