I've been reading posts that mention door signs. Do you just make them for fun or do they serve another purpose? Does anyone have a picture of one they made? I will be sailing with 11 other family members and I thought it might be cute to make a sign for each of our 4 cabin doors.

Can you tell I'm bored?

:wave2: Hi Neighbor....I live in Boca Raton.. :wave2: (and you will be on your Cruise... on my bday,,, 10/ 17 ..) woo hoo!..I have seen those signs also.. Alot have made them / printed them out.. and added.. those lime green mickey faces you can pick up at Home Depot.. in the paint section...It looks very cute.. and can also help you quickly find your stateroom.... :sunny: :earsgirl:

I have also read alot about door signs, and I am making one for our upcoming trip. One question, do you hang them with magnets (metal doors?) or do you use the infamous duct tape?

I am having a ball designing our door sign. V.M. has some great clip art websites to help with the designs.

Anyone out there with some door sign photos that would to share their creativity?

We had a sign on our door for the 2/21 Eastern. It helped the kids find the room as they were the first down the hall every time.

From suggestions I picked up on this board I went to Office Max and bought magnetic paper. The one I purchased was made by Avery and came 5 sheets to a pack. It is regular copy paper on the front and thin magnet on the back. It printed in my regular HP printer.

I designed in Photoshop but could be done in any program. I also made a surprise one for DS's bday during the cruise. He thought it was cool.

So are we saying that the doors are metal? Can I bring my UVA (go Hoos!) magnetic sign that I put on the car door?
Thanks,
Ann

Does anyone know of a good site where I can find Disney themed backgrounds? I have our sign just about done but I'd love either a soft princess theme in the background or something having to do with the beach.

Thanks!:Pinkbounc

Hi staceymerrill! :wave2: I live in Stuart now, but used to live closer to you, in Lake Worth. I'll be on the cruise on my birthday too (Oct. 22)!

Thanks for the hint about the lime green Mickey from Home Depot. For a second I couldn't figure out what you meant, then I remembered seeing those Disney paint chips (is that what they're called?).

This will be my next (obsessive planning) project.

So, where are the pictures of the door signs??? :teeth: I would love to see what everyone else is doing and get some ideas.

:D Two October Birthdays ! Fun!!!... Your welcome... yes.. paint chips..... in the shape of Mickey :earsboy: .. lime green.... I have seen those on the doors... :boat:

We were on Woody's cruise and also made a door sign. Below is a link to a picture of it. I posted pictures of our stateroom on another thread to show what a Cat. 9 stateroom looks like. We had fun making our sign! Like Woody, we used magnetic paper for the sign. Our kids - 12 & 9 - didn't really need it, but our neighbors appreciated it to help them find their room! We will use it again on our next cruise.

P.S. Hi Woody! Happy April Fool's Day!:jester:

My daughter made our sign for our upcoming April cruise. We bought all of our supplies at Jo-Ann Fabric. She used about a 6 by 8 magnet sheet that was sticky on one side, then placed a piece of Minnie dot scrapbook paper over that and then used other Disney related scrapbooking materials. She did a great job and it really came out cute!:earsboy:

What great ideas. Would love to see pictures of other signs to get some ideas. I assume DCL doesn't have a problem with this?

decolady ~ I would love to see your sign, but when I click on the link it says:

Wow Zandy! You and I posted just about the same time! At least I know I am not alone anymore! :teeth:

Nope...I have the same problem...now I'm really curious as to what the sign looks like!

Here are the door magnets that I made for our cruise last August.

Andy - Did you cover the whole door???? LOL - I like the "we be cruisin" one the best. Now what can I come up with for our door. ??? - Mike

Can I bring my UVA (go Hoos!) magnetic sign that I put on the car door?
Yes you can! Just be prepared that you MIGHT not bring it back home with you. Not everyone who sails DCL is nice and people have had door magnets / decorations removed from their doors - never to be seen again.
