Well I booked two mid-ship cabins on the Dream, 9547 and 9543 because Disney listed them as mid-ship. Well when looking at my DCL cruise brochure that I got back in 2011, I got a really good look at where those cabins are. The are front cabins to me. Uggghhhhhh. Now I am going to have to figure out something else. I wonder if DCL placed those in the mid-ship category to generate more money from them. This is my fault, not enough homework on my part when picking my rooms out. But does anyone else agree that these should be labeled as front cabins and not mid-ship?

Maybe, but why does it matter ? It’s just a label on a room.
It matters because I can not have a front cabin as my family members are easily affected by motion. I did not do enough homework on my part when choosing my cabin numbers. This should not have happened. I just think Disney labeled them mid-ship when they knew good and well they were front cabins. Ughhhhhh.

Honestly, by deck 7, the difference in motion between this block and the next block aft, just behind the midship elevators, will not be noticeable. The only interior cabins where the pivot point is close enough to make a difference are located on deck two.

And now there are no more 10A cabins showing available. I should have researched better.

Really? This is a major concern. I am thinking I had just rather upgrade to a higher dollar cabin than chance my family getting sick on this expensive enough vacation. Thank you for your input though. Do you think there might be some other 10A that are available that are not showing on Disney's site?

They look pretty mid ship to me. They are between the forward and midship elevators. If you don’t like them, pick others. I would not jump to the conclusion that Disney purposely mislabeled them to generate revenue.

If the ship moves a lot, and the movement is one that affects members of your family, they will be sick wherever the stateroom is. Sometimes the waves hit sideways, at an angle... Staterooms on deck 2 also go up and down. Some people hate that. Plus you do not get sick only in your stateroom. The shows are forward, the meals are back from deck 2 to 9. I don’t know what category you believe will be better than the one you have, but all staterooms are in the ’if the conditions are right, you’ll get sick’ category. Reading this board long enough, you’ll see that some seasickness affected posters swear by forward and top deck cabins, while others believe they can only sail on deck 2 midship.

If a cabin is not available online, it’s not available anywhere. It might be on hold for three days, it might be cancelled in the future, but no one can book anything but what you can see.

Maybe, maybe not. Who knows? But my husband too thought they were more to the "front" of the ship as well. I wonder if there are more cabins available that are not showing up right now. I might just call DCL and ask them if there are any other 10As that are just be hidden. Let me ask everyone, so does Deck 2 feels a lot of motion or not? Wouldn't want the front of Deck 2 either, but mid ship, really mid ship might work. Thanks.

Really? I read a thread on here that said just the opposite, but I have never heard that before either.

If seasickness is that big of a concern, most people recommend at minimum an OV so they can fix on the horizon but more likely a veranda for fresh air while fixing on the horizon. (I don't get the thrill of going on a vacation that stands a good chance of making people in your party sick, but I'm weird that way and that's beside the point.)

Even if you were to get moved beforehand, there is always the possibility that DCL has to take one or both of the cabins out of service at the last minute (emergency repairs, etc.) and then you're stuck with whatever is available on boarding. Even selecting a cabin is not a guarantee that you'll still have that cabin for the sailing. It's rare, but it can happen.

Hidden staterooms are those that exceed the maximum 8 available shown in the category you chose. If you book when plenty of staterooms are still available, you might not see starboard staterooms. They do not randomize the staterooms they show, but select them by stateroom number. Since port has lower numbers, they are displayed first. Only then will calling DCL make a difference. They have access to all the rooms, not just the first eight.

That should not happen in any category on a cruise that has been on sale for a while.

They probably recategorized the room and it's not a mislabel. Maybe when the ship first set sailed it was first labeled as a front category, then later on they changed it to a mid. Looking at my upcoming cruise, my room was reported as an aft before 2008, then in 2009 in was recategorized as mid.

Maybe so. Those two should have not been left as a front stateroom. (if that was what they were originally)

This looks just like this on deck 2 with the ocean view rooms. Only port side showing.

Looking at the floor map plan, did you originally book these rooms as 2 different categories. Looks Like one room is 10 A and the other is 11A?

Yes, I did. I am going to swap to two 9B on deck 2 on the starboard side. I called Disney and was told there was plenty of them available even though they are not showing. Will cost me like $100 more but I think it will be better suited for us.

Glad to hear you've found a solution.

Concur with the PP, if it's not showing on the website, phone DCL. There are plenty more rooms available than what's showing. That might not have been the case long ago on the last website, but this new one only shows a few staterooms at a time. You just have to take a look on opening day to realize that.

Yes, they did not have any more 10As available, which I kinda figured that was the case but they have plenty of the 9Bs on the Starboard side, which they are not showing at all. I would have had no idea of that if it had not been for the Dis!

If it makes you feel any better, I have sailed 9 times on a Disney cruise. I have not noticed any difference in the motion dependent on the position of where you are on the ship. If a person is going to get motion sickness, they will no matter where the room is. Moving to a room that is maybe 50 feet "back" will not make a difference. Motion sickness is a funny thing in that it affects everyone different. Some are fine as long as they don't look out onto the water. Some people need to look out to feel better. My daughter has bad motion sickness in cars but has no problem on the ships. I hope you enjoy your cruise.
